If he’d stayed at the WWE he would have probably had another short stint with the IC or US titles had a quick feud with KO and worked some small match at Wrestlemania. Instead he has completely re-established himself as the legit Best in the World and helped elevate not only NJPW but also establish AEW. I think WWE is only really good now for wrestlers who don’t know how to develop their own characters because they can simply follow a script, for anyone else though it must be torture to have morons writing storylines that often make no sense what so ever.

(From Gedo's autobiography) When Jericho and Lance Storm came to Japan for the first time, they worked under the booker Kodo Fuyuki, and Gedo was Fuyuki's pupil. Gedo wrote, "Storm was the better in terms of physical prowess. But Jericho always studied ring psychology wherever he went to wrestle. I remember Jado and I first met Jericho in Mexico. Jericho was a rookie who did not speak Spanish fluently, and it was natural for us the three non-Mexicans to get along with each other. His eagerness to study wrestling really impressed me. He had a firm focus on psychology. I was really fond of him, "Wow, this kid is so smart and knows how pro wrestling works." Jado and I also worked with Jericho under Fuyuki-san (Jericho as Lion-Do teaming up with Jado and Gedo.). Since then, Jericho and I have been very close to this date. Whenever WWE had shows in Japan, Jericho called me out and we had fun. Even as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the world, Jericho is still the same: studying studying studying. That's why he is still the best." Gedo is known as one of the most adroit masters of ring psychology. He was not impressed by Hayabusa and Ibushi, and wrestlers who "excessively rely on athleticism." On the other hand, Gedo sent his highest acclaim to Karl Anderson, "The best wrestler in the current (when his book was published) NJPW roster is, to me, Karl Anderson. Watching his matches is pure fun. What is the best way to develop mediocre talents? Let them wrestle Karl Anderson."

Kinda sucks that I've missed all this epicness that happened in NJPW with Jericho, but at least glad I can catch up with most of what happened. I imagine watching all this live must been priceless.

So now I'm here seeing this video because the forbidden door was opened. And it's very interesting how everything is connecting.

Chris Jericho, elevating prestigious championship belts into higher levels and he really is good in doing it. Serves him right to become the 1st undisputed WWF champ and inagural AEW champ.

Chris Jericho is the best at reinventing himself. I only had heard of his "Painmaker" gimmick but now seeing why it is a legit way of putting himself over with the great fans of NJPW.

@Murtaz M I don't think they are their biggest rival, honestly. NOAH is still (somehow) NJPW's biggest rival. NJPW could honestly care less about WWE, they aren't afraid to mention the because they aren't afraid of them.

@Murtaz M look up what happened with NJPW/NOAH and how NJPW pulled it's wrestlers from NOAH permanently because of multiple disagreements. While NJPW is winning in a big way, they are still rivals to each other. NOAH ran things from 2000-2009 until Misawa died, things were kinda stuck with both companies from 2009-2011, and I'd say ever since about 2011-12 NJPW has had control over Japan for the best wrestling there.

@Murtaz M mate NJPW (notably Suzuki-Gun) tried to kill NOAH from within.
