@Leo-nz4nf3 ай бұрын
I feel like most people don't realize that the boy entering the tree at the end is NOT repeating the way Ymir entered the tree 2000 years ago. Ymir entered out of fear. The boy entered out of curiosity. AOT's ending isn't as pessimistic to suggest that humanity will always go to war no matter what, but rejects the idea that an idealistic solution like Eren's Rumbling or Zeke's euthanization plan or Marley's war will end all wars. Wars and violence are bound to happen again, but small changes in attitudes over time can lead to lasting change, not an immediate idealistic solution.

yeah completely agree. Although many humans still go rampage out of fear from the power they don't even try to understand, some humans like Armin, Hanji or even the greedy woman like Kiyomi Azumabito will always see an opportunity to use it for development and progression. Technology in Ymir and Eren age evolve alot because of titan power. Who know maybe this time we could see the next level of civilization. Ofcourse, war will never be gone for good but that never stop human's greed for a better world.
@a-mellowtea3 ай бұрын
The final lyrics of Linked Horizon's "二千年... 若しくは... 二万年後の君へ" - the song that was written for the ending - echo this exact sentiment. It repeats the idea of having to leave the forest, no matter how long it takes or how many times the way is lost; how the earth will heal and life will return, even on scorched fields, but it will remember, and we have to be willing to listen, and understand, so that we can find a way out. Everything about Attack on Titan's ending so perfectly encapsulates the dual nature of our reality: the conflicts and violence that have happened, and are happening, and will happen, but the hope that some day, painstaking as it may be, things will change. That what was the source of fear will be the source of curiosity and, just maybe, a true desire to understand. It's bittersweet, but it's also comforting.

The blue ray version was more amazing. What a difference between the TV version. They did add some extra things in the credit scene we did see Mikasa was at Eren’s grave when it was snowing. Then as the time speeds up a bit we did see people walking by the tree and then later we did see Mikasa passed away peacefully. After she was gone along with the others time speed up again and we seen a lot more people and extra stuff that was added to the far future. We actually seen flying cars this time. And when the city was actually in the war zone. I was like whoa?! They made it more realistic than the TV version did more intense. Then at the end the missiles came down and became more dangerous and more deadly than it did. At the end was more cooler. The reanimated the boy to make look more like he was in the ruined city scene and then finds Eren’s tree where he was laid to rest after his grave eventually disappeared over time.

I don't know if the artists intended this, but the missile launchers you see are patriot anit-air systems. in effect you see a bunch of machines defend the city from air attack, and since they fire a relatively large volley, they could be trying to defend the city from a nuclear missile barage 🫡
@@unowno123 Amusing is the fact that they point towards the city airspace, not the other direction... Most likely, with the world destroyed, they made a Empire, maybe even having colonies on mainland, but with the decades, years, centuries and the developement of the world, like all Empires, they fell. And the world destroyed them. Most likely they would be (and rightfully so) the world most hated nation/people for Thousand years. A lot of people hate this ending and would've prefered that Eren destroyed humanity outside of the walls without realizing that regardless of anything that he would've done, this was humanity's fate even if Paradis were the only ones still alive It is our sad reality, as humans, we love, but we also hate, and like the show said all the way back in season one, war will never end, not until there's only one human left standing in the world I like how we don't get full context as to why Paradis was destroyed thousands of years later, it's pretty much Isayama's way of telling the audience that it was the result of another conflict between humans, and the fact that by the end of the story there's a kid walking to Eren's tree means that it got solved and eventually, the cycle of peace started again (while Paradis got left behind as a memory) Idc what anyone says but this, in context of the story was a great ending, the way we got to this point could've been handled better but this is how AOT should've always ended regardless of anything

Eventhough in the distance future it all repeats itself so in my opinion it's both a fitting ending but at the same time it really breaks your heart knowing it's gonna happen again and again until Humanity is Extinct BC Humans are Monsters BC of what we're capable of. All in all it's an amazing story very Sad, dark and depressing plot twist after plot twist with multiple foreshadowing and I don't know why people hated the ending but I feel like there was no happy ending BC to me it was a Reality check. Timeline 1:53 YEAR 1 - Mikasa went all alone in the winter. Probably the same year after the Battle of Heaven and Earth, a war meant to end all wars. 2:04 YEAR ??? - Mikasa, her husband and their son came to visit the grave. 2:11 YEAR 35+? - Mikasa walking with a cane, her husband, their children and granchildren. Looks like she had 2 daughters or 1 daughter and 1 son, and at that point Mikasa has 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, none of them look older than 12 years old. Notice the car is similiar to a 50s or 60s model and now there's a dirt road. The overall landscape make if seem like Shiganshina is still a rural town. 2:27 YEAR 60 - Same unknown flowers in both Eren's grave and Mikasa's body, having died of old age, aproximately at 80 years (average for women). Let's be realistic, no ring was ever shown as symbol of marriage in the series, that's irrelevant. The scarf is there. She's not inside a coffin, nor in a hole in the ground. Why is her body lying in the bare ground? The shadow is too straight to come from the tree, notice the equally straight shadow in the right. Pretty cryptic shot. 2:35 YEAR 60+? - The landscape is largely the same than in . Notice the extremeley long shot. This must be close to Mikasa's death. Also, she was not buried by Eren's side, since there's no removed ground nor gravestone. No one visits Eren's grave anymore and his memory is already forgotten, barely 3 generations after the Battle of Heaven and Earth. Understandibly, Mikasa's descendants don't care too much about their gramma's puppy love. 2:49 YEAR 60+? - Rain stops, sun shines in the sky. There's still peace. But... 2:53 YEAR 60+? - Smoke rises from Shiganshina, probably because the rural town is starting to become a city. Steam power makes life so much easier! 2:54 YEAR 70-80? - "Modern" buildings rise in Shiganshina, the road looks abandoned and a fence implies this vantage point became a park or something like that. People come and go, nobody cares about that old grave, the tree outgrows its original placement. Clearly, economic growth and prosperity makes this old town a place of progress that shines towards the future. 2:56 YEAR 90-100? - Shiganshina is already a big city, the abandoned road now becomes a highway. Clearly, fossil fuel is the blood of this city, given that smog is sugested in the shot. A tower that looks suspiciously like the Tokyo Tower or the Eiffel Tower rises in the skyline. Perharps the very first structure taller than the old walls that our grandmothers used to describe. This is such a great place to raise a family and spend the rest of our lives! 2:57 YEAR 100-110? - Shiganshina starts a big urgan development. The Tower is moved closer to the tree, no one wants to get ride of such an icon of the city. Elevated highways manifest as Shiganshina becomes a postmodern, heavily crowded city. There's urban issues such as crime, poverty and affordable housing, even gentrification, but what else can you expect in a great city like this? Stop complaining. Or are you one just like those dirty inmigrants? 3:00 YEAR 110-125? - Is that a nuclear power plant in the left oif the shot? Skyscrapers look already look a lot taller than the Walls that conspiracy theorists claim used to dominate the area several generations ago. Was that old war really that important? All green in Shinganshina (if it keeps being called like that) is already gone, except for the park by the highway where the tree is located, a park that seemingly no one visits. Speaking of the tree, it's big enough to hide that gravestone. 3:01 YEAR 125-140 - The tree stands tall and alone against a futuristic city. Smog is gone, the nuclear power plant looks a lot more contained. Once again, there's a bright future ahead, as energetic issues are no longer a cause for conflict. Sky-bridges wtih advanced engineering connect several skyscrapers and urban flying vehicles can be seen. Don't worry about those who live in the lower floors, their conditions are not as bad as the independent media says. They should be thankful we share our small percentage of resources with them. Our society is not full of hypocrite politicians as the ones crossing the ocean. Have you seen what they do to their own citizens? 3:02 YEAR 140-160 - The tree is preserved against a deeply redevelopment in the city, no old structure is preserved. Massive vertical mega-skyscrapers rise to host self-contained communities. Flying vehicles communicate them. The 1% richest of all citizens live at the top, while the infraestructure is fueled by the workforce of those whose surnames and genealogy don't qualify for full citizenship. 3:03 YEAR 160-180 - The tree keeps enduring while the megastructures fuse among themselves in a humongous wall-like megrastructure. Ground-based lights are also deployed towards the sky in what looks like anti-air strike system. Curffew starts at 8pm. Mandatory military services provides a way to rise from lower classes to a middle class that at least gets a couple of daily sunlight though their windows. A symbolic night has slowly covered the entire shot. The sunny peace is long gone. Prepare for war for your nation. What are you waiting, monkey? do you want to live forever? 3:06 YEAR 180+? - Is that a September 11th reference? That helicopter didn't crash against the megrastructure but the iconography is undeniable clear. The pair of airplanes look like quasi-futuristic F-16. The war to end all wars once again starts. 3:14 YEAR 180+? - The terrifying tilt-down seems to imply that this was the pinnacle of human progress, and everything that goes up must come down. Land-air attacks are shot to the sky even though no airship can be seen. However, the megastructure is under heavy fire as well, up to the point the whole structure looks like is on fire. Missiles are shot in a desperate counter-attack against an undisclosed enemy, and then... 3:23 YEAR 180+? - ...we see the barely visible gravestone of an unknown man, surrounded by the shells of a battle between two (or more) undisclosed parties. As the worst war mankind has ever fought rages on, this mere stone has no meaning whatsoever. Historians recorded the story about the genocide called "the Rumbling" and taught about a certain battle where a combined force of some obscure Paradis' soldiers and some Marleyians stopped such genocide with swords and primitive guns, but the details about such battle are too unbelievable and no archaelogical evidence of such legends supports the existence of the so-called "titan power", those are tall tales trying to explain absurd wars of the past. This current war is far more relevant, all sacrifices are valid in order to destroy the enemy. There's no time to analize human story, our forefathers were primitive and their wars are not worth out superior intelect. We must endure! We must prevail! We must survive at all cost! But... 3:34 YEAR 190+? - ...this war ended too. Somehow, it ended. With heavy losses, but it ended. Was it a war to end all wars once again? The tree stands tall against the ruins of the megastructure. Surviving civilians probably celebrate that the war is finally over. Except that... 3:35 YEAR 190+? - ...whoever was this megastructure's enemy, they had one final say on the matter. An intercontinental missile? Several of them? Are they nuclear weapons? This doesn't look as mutual assured destruction, but nothing denies that possibility too. The tree somehow survives. 3:49 YEAR ??? - Birds freely fly between the legendary ruins of the old civilization, that place the elders warn against, saying this is a forbidden place. No one is allowed to inhabitate this place, the elders say many generations ago, those who tried died from a strange sickness, and the very few who survived the travel back to the village ended up having deformed children as a curse by the evil that lurks such places... 3:58 "Those fools were so wicked that the gods destroyed them by fire, you should never put a foot in that cursed place or you will be cursed too" said the elders. I never understood why they are so callous. I hate the elders. That place has anwers. The legends say the old ones had magic powers, they created food out of thin are and had boats that crossed the skies. Mom forbade me to make this journey again, she hit me again with the broom as punishment. I hate mom. I couldn't walk for two weeks, but as soon as I could stand up again, I started stealing food for the three days long journey and then I ran from home. Nothing bad has happened to me so far, I have nothing to fear. This place has anwers. I know it! I'll reach that big tree this time! There's beauty in this place!

Even if eren completed the rumbling, conflict would still continue. This was 200-300 years after the events of the series. It was not retaliation. It could have even been a civil war. All we know is that conflict cant be prevented entirely. "Mankind will stop fighting when there are less than 2 people" -pyxis

Nobody disagrees with this, even Eren didn't think this way. When Eren says "end the cycle of hatred" he is specifically referring to the hatred between the world and Eldians, which the Rumbling would have solved, but of course that does not equate to "world peace" and conflict would obviously arise again.

At the end the cycle continues. Giant demons is what's gonna be humanity's greatest threat or what remained of humanity, but the demons within is the real threat all along.

you cannot deny how amazing this show is-the story, character development, and animation. it is so intricate. and it tells the audience a story about life itself. As time goes by, there is so much pain and chaos, but through it all, there is peace and tranquility. everything around you change, and in the end, everyone has the same dreadful fate of death at the end of their journey in life. But since humans are greedy and they want the same goal, there is always violent upbringings, constant struggles, constant war and battles. Through it all, even if many sacrificed their own lives, there will be many who don't care and search for bloodlust to power and fame, while there are many who seek to assist, lift people up and inspire them to do better. This show is so amazing, I am rewatching this series from the beginning, Thank you Mr. Hajime Isayama for this spectacular series.

@@UmQasaann bruh if you think that Eren exterminating the world will keep Paradis at peace forever you have not picked up a history book in your life. It will solve the centuries-old conflict about Eldians' sins, but it will never stop conflicts between humans. That's the whole point of the show. It's human nature to fight against each other. It happened to Eldian empire even after conquering the world as they started fighting among themselves. And it will happen again. Titans powers did cease to exist. Whatever power that the boy at the end produces will most likely be very different from Ymir's Titan power, as her power is a product of hatred and fear. By the way, Eren exterminating the world will not erase hallucigenia from existence either. Paradis being nuked might not have anything to do with the ancient Eldia vs world conflict at all. The idea that exterminating the out-group will lead to utopia forever is ludicrous and clearly rejected by history.

I don’t think humanity forgot about Eren and everything that happened, considering the world outside of the island was relatively advanced so they could keep history intact. I think that AOT wanted to show that despite what happened humanity simply moved on back to its basics. For example, the black plague that attacked Europe and wiped out 2/3 of its population didn’t stop Europe from starting 2 world wars. Point being that a near extinction event won’t necessarily bring humanity together
