So before the rumbling, Eren got his head shot off by this girl named Gabi. Eren consults with Ymir Fritz, and Ymir lends him her power. After acquiring the Founding Titan's abilities, Eren destroys the walls and commands the Colossal titans within the walls to flatten all of the Earth. Not to mention that those aren't clouds, but the smoke that the Colossal titans release.

Isayama is a genius. If he'd started the series *directly* and *explicitly* showing it in a world war setting, it would have caused a lot of controversy, backlash and he would have been forced to stop the manga, and the anime probably would have never been produced. Instead, he chose a completely different direction and slowly built it up to the grand reveal of the outside world and and story of war, 59 episodes and 90 chapters later. Truly brilliant. No one would've thought that this wasn't your simple and generic "hero vs villain" story. It started seemingly that way, but revealed itself to be completely rooted within reality, apart from it's fictional element. That's what makes it so great.

I would say Eren is pretty fukin bad. Edit: So I'm assuming the people who try to defend Eren have not actually read the manga. MAJOR SPOILERS BELLOW: So the main argument I see is that Eren is trying to defend his people. This is true and is understandable, but the reason Eldians are so discriminated against is that they are genuinely terrifying. We remember how scary and horrible the titans were in season 1, that's the same fear the people of Marley feel towards Eldians. Now I am not trying to justify Marley, but all they really did is segregate them and remove most of their rights. On the other hand, Eren is not only committing mass genocide killing everyone including children, babies, the elderly, the other Eldians that were still in Marley but also everyone else in the world. Like, imagine if your entire country including your family and friends and everyone you know one day got trampled to death by X country because Y country discriminated against and enslaved/kill the people of X country. Is that justice? Is that justified? Would you still think Eren is the good guy? I mean ffs Mikasa and Armin, the two people closest to Eren are trying to stop him.

Yeah like, when I first watched the opening for the very first time, I knew the background of Attack on Titan. Taking place in Germany. And being a "history - fan" (I love learning about History), I knew about the Nazis. So knowing that this take llace in Germany with those soldiers walking I was like, "Nazis?!"
