Fellow Calgarian working through PTSD. I’m grateful for your example! I may not be a big tough dude, but I’m a small, tough woman and mother and I can definitely relate with feeling like this is one of the hardest things I’ve been through. When you’re a determined person who’s used to getting through life by grit, determination, & pushing through the tough stuff, PTSD can be so destabilizing. Because, at least for me, I can’t heal by pushing through. Not this time. And it can be hard to feel weak but try to remember that I’m not. That trauma is an important evolutionary response. Thanks for raising awareness and practicing the courage to tell your story.

@@mitchdevi6432 he just got whacked by a bear, he would've had some degree of shock. I'd think of the same idea to document things if the worst happened and also to check out how my face and head was. He made the decision to be calm. Just to try overcome his ordeal was quite complicated given his face was ripped off. He had to really focus and adapt to accomplish achieving each step. To say his calm was simply shock is minimizing the situation he overcame. He showed amazing fortitude and steely grit. Most people would have laid down and died from shock. Not this man. He proved to be a very intelligent, fiercely brave man that loves his family so deeply that he pushed through his terrible pain and challenges and won. He did give up. He pulled the trigger and GOD saved him. God and his guardian angels also put the necessary fear in him by the accidental second shot that missed his face. @@5GreenAcresOR we can look at it logically and realize guns misfire ALL the time at random. No gun is 100% and perfect and won’t have a misfire. It was sheer luck what happened to this man. It was luck mixed with will to see his child and wife again after the gun misfired, most likely because he loaded it wrong due to not being able to see and probably jammed it for a second. It wasn’t god or angels. If it were god, he wouldn’t have let this man get treated like a chew toy 3 times in a row. If god had a part to play, I figure he woulda helped the guy out after the first bear attack and made it so the bear missed him the second time rather than it being the gun that missed. Adrenaline is a powerful thing. If it can make a woman lift an entire car to save her child (it’s been documented and seen before) then I’m pretty sure the adrenaline could keep this man going enough to get help. WE make our own outcomes and destiny. Not some mythical being in the sky that goes against every fact of the timeline of history. My chances of being religious went out the window when I saw a group of Christian’s arguing with someone over the existence of dinosaurs! 😂

@geekfreak618 So he was supposed to just let the bear kill him? He defended his life against a brutal attack. He wasn't hunting bear. He came across a cub with a rightfully protective mother. They say the only thing you should do in that situation is play dead or do what you can to survive. You would do the same thing, so dont pretend you're better than anyone else.

Hello from Ontario Canada 😢 my dear God, I have seen this young man's bear attack storey a while ago and I kid you not it gives me shivers from head to toe! By all rights this man was mere seconds from death! To have the bear leave for ten mins after the first attack you'd be looking up to the sky and thanking the big guy. Then to have that beast come at him again! Omg!!! It wanted him dead. This man survived for a good reason! His sweet baby girl was on his mind and in his heart. People surviving this multiple attacks normally just don't get to walk away. 😢 I could listen to this man tell his storey and each time it really leaves me knowing that a power greater than himself was walking with him. One very lucky man. One very lucky baby girl gets to have daddy at her wedding. Your a very, VERY, lucky young man. ❤😊

I'm sorry that happened to your dogs. I'm a responsible pit owner. My pit loves humans and he's good to other dogs, unless my husband and I show any affection to another dog. We keep our pit securely on our property and we don't show affection to other animals. We don't show hate either. We try to politely take them home and ask the owner to supervise their dog and not let them in our yard. It has worked. Whoever owns those dogs had no business having two pitties.

I was sitting in my Orthodontist’s office at age 13 in 1976 reading a ‘Readers Digest’. They had a segment in each episode called ‘Drama in real life’ The title defined it perfectly. A man was camping/hunting in Alaska (Think thats the right state). He was asleep in his tent when a Grizzly or Kodiak got a hold of him and the part I’ll never forget is the bear swung one of his paws at the guy ripping his scalp off and the claws raking across his skull leaving visible marks on it... He survived but was torn up horribly.. I’m 61. That story has stayed with me…

I watched a very old movie called "Grizzly " it just came on TV and it was pretty graphic for regular TV so many years ago .It was about a rouge Grizzly and it was killing and attacking people ,to this day its my biggest fear .I love the mountains so much and the woods but I dont hike in the mountains r go walking in the woods much anymore , not like I did when I was a kid , no where in a area where a bear could be , r at least , not that I know of . I've had nightmares about that movie and now I've heard many stories about bear attacks and I will still have a bad dream now and then and I worry sick about my son , who loves both the mountains and the woods, he's not afraid of anything , unfortunately , he reminds me a lot of Him , ADHD and all lol

@@frantssagmyr-truksvik6140God didn’t send that bear. Bears exist and things happen just as accidents and diseases happen. It is part of this world that became distorted by sin and our rebellion towards God. It is a consequence of that. However, God does take horrible situations and will use them for good and great beauty even in the most horrific circumstances. It’s hard to understand and one day, we will see the big picture. God doesn’t waste a minute of our pain and suffering. He can transform it and us. I hope this man will recognize the gift he has been given and will turn to God. God didn’t want this to happen to this man but God allows free will and nature to happen. God did save this man’s life and give him more time to get in relationship with Him. It's amazing that Jeremy had the presence of mind to deal with his tragic experience! What a survivor! I'm sure his positive outlook and sense of humor helped pull him through. Blessings to you, Jeffrey!

I wanted to also add, I knew a man that did a lot of work with National Geographic, so he was very experienced. He went out all be himself and was eaten alive by a bear……never go out by yourself!!! His name was Bart.

Thank you for interviewing this man. I wasn’t going to watch the whole thing, but I’m really glad that I did. Because of you and him, I was able to recognize for the first time in my life that PTSD is more of an issue in my life than I ever thought, and it’s okay to admit it. I feel safer now thinking that I can seek help for this and work through it as best than I can. Thanks Dan.

Extremely interesting story! I was riveted! Amazing what the surgeon did! I was listening to the story while cleaning…then I went over to my iPad to look to see what he looked like after all he said that happened. I was blown away at how good he looked. Which, doesn’t take away from all that he suffered, but, was thrilled for him at how good he looks!

I love how honest this guy is. I've listened to his story so many times, and every time i'm just really impressed with his straight forward and humble manner. He knows he did @ome things wrong, but with the exception of a few minutes, where he considered ending it all, he pulled through and just did what he had to do.

@@jasonmacneil2256 I got chewed up by a German shepherd when I was 7 . It seemed to last forever, but I’m sure it was over in minutes. Never cared much for dogs after that lol. But thank goodness, no nightmares that I recall. Maybe because I was so young. I think my dad driving like a maniac to the hospital scared me worse. Or the damned nurse with the scrub brush left more scars. But no, never combat. Doubt I have the stones for that. And I didn’t have near the injuries. 4 wounds on upper thigh, 1/on forearm. I do remember the dog shaking me while biting though.
