As the sun rose over the icy Chukchi Sea, a lone polar bear began its foraging swim.
The bear used to live on giant icebergs, but climate change has caused the ice to melt faster, forcing it to swim farther to find prey.
The waves were fierce today, constantly crashing into its body, quickly tiring it out.
In the dark water, a school of ferocious sharks were circling, waiting for weak prey.
Polar bears are usually good at hunting on ice, but in the open sea, they are at a distinct disadvantage.
