Poor Kika! I felt for you! I was seriously into mountain biking in the late 80s, 90s. It is the most physically demanding sport I have ever done , using every part of your body. There are no "easy" mountain bike rides. Felt so bad for Kika being thrown into this long ride with no learning curve prep. Well done to tough it out!

This was a fun watch! I biked through southern Spain 20 years ago on my own around the same time of year, and this brought back a lot of memories. Especially the fancy hotels for super cheap, and the desperate need for calories at a time of day when no one in Spain thought it reasonable to have a restaurant open. I needed 6 meals a day...I'd ride in to a tiny town, find the only open store, order 4 sandwiches and ate one, stuck the rest in my bags, and kept going. The Spaniards were so supportive of my journey, cheering me on from the olive groves as I went by...it was wonderful.

I think you have said it before. You're not just a sailing channel you are an adventure channel, that uses a boat to get from one adventure to the next, while having adventures along the way. Keep up the great work and trying out new things. Not to mention if you are not a good mountain biker, that challenge would have been twice as hard as you are carrying a heavy E-Bike more and working your muscles more then you are using the E-Assist. No wonder Dans bike was empty at the end of Day one.... massive effort!

Menorca is an amazing island, even in high season there are not that many tourists (and they're mostly Brits which means they stay at the pool or at best will walk a few hundred meters to get to the closest "Irish" pub to watch football (soccer) on TV. The Cami de Cavalls are a great way to discover the coast around the isle. Another thing not to miss in Menorca are the Talayotic archaeological sites - there are plenty of them and visiting one or two is a must imho. The Mola fortress is definitely worth a tour too - Dan and Kika visited it in a previous video.

Cool video, I love e-bikes! A couple of friendly e-bike tips…first always plug the charger into the bike and then into the wall socket. This reduces the chance of blowing a fuse in the battery. Second most e-bikes have a “walk” mode that will give you some assistance when pushing the bike up a hill. For the specialized brand, I think, you hold the “+” button for a couple seconds and the motor will give you some assistance. I hope this helps on your future adventures!

If you want vertical misery, hike the Grand Canyon, Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim. I was mistakenly over confident hiking with my daughter as I had spent ~12 years in the Army. That was 18 years ago. Yeah! Dan's back! From age 4 to mid-50s, I rode 10,000+ miles. If your rear derailleur is clicking and your chain falls off, then your rear derailleur's stops need adjusting, as does your shifter or cable, depending upon your setup. Cramps: Stretching helps, but if you're experiencing muscle cramps, you really need more potassium! Also, stay properly hydrated and go for ~70-90 pedal revolutions per minute, focusing on consistent and light to moderate exertion instead of trying to power your way through. Potassium-rich foods great for the trail: dried apricots, raisins, coconut water, banana chips, orange juice, almonds, cashews. Unlike salt, humans require far more potassium than they're getting: Over 19 years: 3,400 milligrams/day for males and 2,600 milligrams/day for females (pregnant or breastfeeding: 2,800-2,900 milligrams/day) As for Gatorade... "...potassium deficiency (hypokalemia) was more common in patients receiving Gatorade." - AmeriCares response in the aftermath of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. I recommend water and potassium-rich foods, but if you must use Gatorade, consider no more than 50% Gatorade with water, and still eat potassium-rich foods. "The whole trail is pretty advanced mountain biking..." Lol, the first time I went skiing (7th grade), I stuck to the beginner trails Day 1, the intermediate trails Day 2, and the difficult (black diamond) trails Day 3. While it CAN be done, falls are inevitable. My longest single-day mountain biking was 47 miles. Fortunately, most of it was on a paved road. I know, that's cheating...!

One can look at situations as “breaking or failing”, I like to look at it as learning. If you’re not learning, you’re not pushing hard enough. Learning requires a growth process and that includes “breaking or failing”. Very cool adventure! After watching, I would add: doing so while laughing and cheering others on makes even the hardest situations bearable. You rock.

When we were on Menorca we saw a beautiful group of white condos?? - I think they were called Bini Beca or something close... Did you guys see those? Also our hosts took us to an unnamed spot where they said the Romans docked their ships - it was solid rock along the water, and there were wagon wheel tracks worn into the rock that were at least 8" deep. We spent a couple of summers in Menorca on our boat, over-wintering at Addaia marina (the only one we found in the whole of Spain with private shower cubicles). We walked parts of the Cami de Cavalls, it's very beautiful. Also met some mountain bikers who were finding it as challenging as you did. You by-passed some beautiful calas that are best reachable by boat, so you must do a slow circumnavigation in Uma come the warmer weather to explore them.

Welcome to BONK town Kika! It's the term affectionally given by bikers who hit the wall of what's possible physically and mentally. Aiming for 100 to 200 calories an hour is super helpful in preventing bonking. Also, that bike has a walk assist feature on the remote, where when you're pushing it up hill you can push that button to engage the motor to help propel the bike along side you so you're not working as hard.

Really nice! Also the chain on ebikes often break when you shift during the motor is still pushing. So always try not to shift under load. The thin chain is because of theodern 12 speed cassette. Less components, more range. The thickness doesn't determine the strength, only the perpendicular bolts determine the thickness so it has the same strength as thicker chains. But you were best prepared for that! Also I hoped you reached Kika some technique how to ride and position over the bike, really challenging and well done for the first time MTB!
