YES! YES! I am so glad to see you coming back to my favorite game EVER! The Cosmic Ocean grind is SO satisfying (I've made it to CO but never made it all the way to 99). My favorite part is watching the achievement stats on steam, it was 4.3% when I got it, and now its up to 5.something% and I can't wait to see you join that group. It is awesome to see the community get better and better as more people see the peak challenge of what Spelunky 2 can offer (although, I got Costmic Ocean and not low% so maybe low% is the actual hardest challenge lmao). Anyways, can't wait to watch your journey through this game and I hope you love it as much as I do!

If you feel that way then it's not for you, which is fine. Many roguelike players are always looking for more to do in their runs, more challenge, more grind, more strats, so I think Cosmic Ocean exists to serve that to an extreme degree. It's for the people who want to do it and feel they would get something out of it, or just enjoy the journey. If you aren't that type of player, there are two other ways to beat the game, and you can even get all the achievements just by entering Cosmic Ocean and dying to the jelly. (They didn't make one for 7-99 precisely because unlocking an achievement should not be your motivation to go so far, it should be on your own terms.)

Hmmm, not having played the game I did not know this, but it looks like it could have originated as a typo in the journal (seemingly the only place a pronoun is used for her). The original Kingu from Babylonian mythology is male, and the face of this sprite seems to have more masculine features, which, while not necessarily indicative of actual gender, may imply a design choice. Either way, the community has universally adopted she/her, and there's certainly no reason for that to change. Guess they're canonically lesbians after all.

First of all, yeah, the title is accurate because everyone was attempting. Second of all, entering Cosmic Ocean isn't even the "hardest challenge" in question, it's _finishing_ Cosmic Ocean. Third, the point is NEVER "you failed, it wasn't your victory, you don't deserve this." The point is that he tried, and he learned a lot for next time, and he had a good time with his friends. He reached a new personal best, even if not a solo one, and he can only go even farther from here (if he wants to). If your mentality when attempting a difficult challenge is that you NEED to earn it in order to consider yourself valid in the attempt, that's not healthy and you won't enjoy yourself as much. Just go as far as you'll enjoy going, be happy with each milestone, and create good memories.
