LEWIS ( apologize if I spelled it wrong) it wasn't too bad for little experience. I can give you a couple of quick tips that I guarantee will raise your level next time you try steaks ... . season meat with all your preferred spices EXCEPT salt **till the end ** PREHEAT YOUR PAN '... always make sure pans hot...not warm ...hot. you want to sear the meat as quickly as possible ..this creates that crust and doesn't let the juice spill out through the crust keeping inside and in turn tenderizing the inside . GREASE PAN LIGHTLY : unless frying very little grease is needed ... The grease is just a lubricant when making steaks ...too much grease and Fry's and boils the meat and you'll never get a seared crust with too much liquid and since there's no sear even more liquid will cook out and cause the steak to be chewy . Sear one side turn sear other side cook desired time take it out if heat to rest which causes all the heated juices to settle back through the rest of the meat while there resting you can take this time to add the salt to taste .. I ran a couple kitchens while u was going to college or y'all's university. Anyway hope that helps brother . Your almost at 100,000 on your other channel ... Hope you surpass your expectations . We're all cheering for you !!

You have two different cuts of Beef. You put on enough Salt to preserve a slab of fish. When you started, you should have put on less than a tsp of oil. Rub it on the top - ( always put the salt and pepper in the palm of your hand [separately] and take it in small pinches to spread) put the unseasoned side of one stake on the seasoned side of the other. Then do the reverse. Way too much oil in the pan. Put in about a tablespoon in the pan - Heat high til you see a slight shimmer in the oil. Remove pan an wipe out excess oil from pan. put the pan on the heat and put your steaks for 1.5 min each side. This is only to sear. lower the heat below med. for about 2 min. until you get to your pref. Don't put any steak sauce or any other flavoring until your either setting to rest or serving. Her steak was thicker than yours so you shouldn't have done yours for so long. Cooking is supposed to be fun. Don't get so frustrated.

Lewis, the first step in any kitchen is prep. Cut or chop and season. When you are ready to cook, all you need to do is mix ingredients as appropriate. TIP: potatoes are starchy. If you peel and chop them before cooking, put them in a bowl of water and soak them. At least several hours. Sometimes prep work starts hours before you start cooking.
@lennybuttz2162Ай бұрын
What? No one soaks their potatoes for 2 or 3 hours. The only reason people put them in water is if they are making a large amount and the water keeps the potato from turning gray or brown, that's it. You don't need to soak them water for any other reason. LOL Dude what are you doing if you need to prep for 2 hours before you cook? Sure if you're making Thanksgiving dinner not a Tuesday night supper. LOL

Also less marbling means tougher steak. So you would want to try and help tenderize it before cooking.
@katttmandoo7 ай бұрын
I will say it’s too much oil. Especially in the beginning because you can’t get a good sear with alot of liquid in the skillet. You’ve also got to think about the liquid coming off of the steak that will add to any liquid in the pan… you should try a larger skillet to keep from crowding. Sear in a very small amount of olive oil then cook it without adding any more oil and towards the end put in the butter and thyme to baste.

Check out some more steak videos, you will get there don’t worry. Bigger pan, a hot pan first, the fat strip will tend to curl in that so you can cut it so your steak won’t curl up and cook unevenly. Another tip is coat (not ridiculously) with salt and let it draw out the moisture in the steak. This will season the steak throughout. Good try though! You’ll get there! ❤

Amaretto and Coke....mixed and WITHOUT ICE?! How British. Not to continue picking, BUT why hasn't that steak been marinating in seasoning except the plastic wrap it was packaged in? To cook like an American, those steaks should have been tenderized and placed in a bath of seasoning (sea salt, fresh ground peppercorn, rosemary, minced garlic, a few dashes of Worcestershire, and 1 cup of lager, for example) and kept in the fridge since last night or this morning. You're knackered after peeling potatoes? Wee and potatoes... must be a Birmingham thing! Bless him. I hope Izzy had a fire extinguisher within hand's reach! To quote Lewis, "OH MY DAYS!" For a great steak tenderize it then marinade it in bourbon with some garlic for an hour. Then brush it with some melted butter. Put some pepper on it after you have brushed it with butter. Has to be real butter not margarine. After you have done this , then you cook it. Never salt meat before cooking. It dries the meat out. Put the salt on after it is cooked. It is 3 minutes each side if the steak is 1 1/2 inches thick. For those steaks you cooked it should have been a minute and a half on each side. I prefer to pan sear mine in butter unless I have the grill going outside and then it is grilled. Flame broiled. Yummy.
@katttmandoo7 ай бұрын
Don’t listen to the salt haters in the comments… you need to season generously the bigger the piece of meat… all I’m gonna say is you need to look up Guga on the tubes…. He’s got 3 channels but he’s the “steak” guy I’d refer you too. Season ALL sides generously. Keep it basic… salt pepper garlic… (no oil on steak) hit it with a steak seasoning mix too if you like. Put a little oil in the pan and get it hot, THEN put your steaks in. Sear a little on both sides. Then turn down and flip multiple times to cook evenly… melt a little butter with thyme in the pan and continue to baste with said butter and thyme.

I’m sorry I’m late to the party but I just found this and it’s hilarious, and I bet he left the dishes in the sink for the reason most of us men do. Because we know women don’t have patience for us and they’ll keep looking at the dirty dishes and finally say he’s never going to wash them I’ll just do them myself😅 It’s just l😢the easiest way for a man to get out of housework is to do housework, but do it in a way your partner can’t stand like vacuuming without overlapping or crooked and very shortly she will grab the vacuum and say can’t you do anything right. Never mind I’ll do it and you can sit down with a cold beer and watch your favorite football team. This video looks like Lewis found a way to guarantee he’ll never have to do any cooking again 😂

Welp! That was mighty Brave of you, Lewis!!! You did far better than many I’ve seen in my days!!! The strangest thing I came across, was a young lady, newly married, wanting to make a dinner for her hubby-not only did she not know lettuce had to be cleaned, she had no clue of how to do it, or what else was needed to make a salad!!! Made for a Very long cooking session, bc I didn’t do any of it For her, which I know is what she wanted!!! She was happy & proud after dinner, bc she Did so it all!!! My youngest daughter(38!😬) hit a bunch of people, at different times, who didn’t know what a grater was for, much less that cheese blocks could be grated, & why it’s way better than already grated cheese, especially when cooking with it!!! My homemade breads have always blown people away, but I think the funniest was a person afraid to try it,”bc you’re supposed to buy bread at the store!”, & couldn’t figure out how it was possible, seeings I didn’t have the automated machines they’d seen on some tv show!!! She Loved my bread!!! You and Izzy(sp?) need to get into the kitchen together, & try making things neither are familiar to how it’s made!!! Nothing greater in the kitchen, than a couple bonding over shared lives for food!!! There’s a couple over there- “Mr H and friends”, who’ve gone crazy for cooking American foods, & even had a Texan made smoker shipped to them recently, that I wish y’all would watch, but meet up as well!!! They’re a Great place to start, for the American foods you want to try!!!🥰

It pained me to watch the steaks being cooked. As an amatuer home chef who has cooked hundreds of steaks in my day let me give you a couple pointers. 1. That was way too much oil, both before and during cooking. You only need a light coating of oil, your steak shouldn't be simmering in oil lol 2. You can do whatever seasonings you want but I usually just stick with salt, pepper. Maybe a little garlic powder. 3. NEVER put steaks in a cold pan. You should heat up the pan first over medium high heat. You want your steak to get a good sear on the outside while staying tender on the inside. 4. If you add butter, put it on the pan, not the steak and once it melts spoon it over the steak. 5. When you let your steak rest, I prefer using a wooden cutting board and then I cover them with a metal bowl. I have a great method to tell how done your steak is but it's hard to explain in a textual message. First locate the big muscle in your palm, right below your thumb. If you touch your index finger to your thumb, the firmness of this muscle mimics the firmness of a rare steak. The middle finger mimics the firmness of a medium rare steak, ring finger for medium and then pinky for well done. I learned that from an amazing chef and it's always worked perfectly for me.
