The big one is an ekranoplan, aka the Caspian Sea monster. It takes advantage of the ground effect to hover over water at airplane like speeds, but it's too low to be hit by radar, and too high for sonar. But there were disadvantages likes only being able to be used in calm seas, and it took a long to see so you needed a lot of spotter boats
