When i formed Outremer, i hadnt even intended to do so when i started the playthrough. I was playing William the Conqueror, but once he was dead Robert Curthose was deposed by a claimant faction and became the independent ruler of Wales. After a crusade my heir became king of jerusalem, jumped off a building, and passed the crown to Robert. Planned to do a Britain playthrough, got deposed, thought F this and conquered the Holy Land instead lol.

The only reason the kingdom was established in the first place was because the Muslims were infighting. The first crusade actually united them against a common foe. Also the King of Jerusalem was a major dick to other kings so no one wanted to help him out, it wasn’t the other infighting within Europe

Its unrealistic to expect an undisciplined mob to behave, that includes nobles with no established hierarchical structure and no one to answer to. The crusades were at like a massacre and then a few centuries of stalemate, ultimately causing the fall of the Roman Empire to the muslims. The Reconquista of Spain was a lot more successful

​@@duncanharrell5009at least with rome you get a hereditary trait and gain cores on all empires you currently own. Outremer, you get a nickname and the cores, that's it, would be cool if your character that formed the empire got canonized as a saint, your dynasty could get a good modifier

I don't really know if you're aware, but in your siege when the small breach or big breach appears, you can assault fort and it skips a good amount of the siege Edit: this just happens when you got an developed to powerful siege weapons, big numbers or more advanced ones

Did this once when I had an empire in Europe that spanned from Northern Africa to France. The empire held on mostly until I formed the new empire, then I noticed a new dynasty had taken power 🙃

A fun playthrough is starting as a Croatian or Hungarian and hybridizing with the other so then you have both Koni and Horse Archers and can melt other armies so you don't have to chase them around the map. I prefer to go with Croatian so you can milk the Pope for gold and then go for the whole Slavia unification. Just make 2 stacks of Koni, 2 Horse Archers, and 2 of the best siege equipment while building all buildings that give a bonus to light cavalry. So easy to win against 3-4 times your numbers.

I did this starting with Urraca but to be fair, that was before the Fate of Iberia DLC. It's not as hard as you think as long as you have a good army. I did it in Iron Man. The only unpleasant thing was wrestling the last of the counties off the Byzantines but I'd taken Constantinople already, so that was a lot easier.

@@Bixmy nah it is hard. You face so many rebellions because you have to make a faith that isnt pacifist in order to conquer lands, so you’re constantly trying to be overthrown by every other faith

Just did this with my character I started as Harold Godwinson, disinherited an intrigue son. Then when I died and I did the crusade with my son and put the intrigue brother on the throne. Then did the holy war for kingdom to take Egypt and did the OP move of abducting the war leader right when I declared the war. Then my power base was so good it was pretty simple to take the rest of the land but. Have mended the schism and now am taking on the Mongols.

the Fatimids, who were Shia, tried to side with the crusaders, so it’s not that strange I guess. I’m sure the crusaders would have seen a lot more success if they turned the Shias and Sunnis against each other

Altho it's one thing when one powerful state allies one of hostile faith, and other thing when religious head is vassal of hostile religious state. Frankly I felt a bit sad when he didn't vassalised-conquerd sunni caliph also. That would be certified funni moment. He should also make them one count minors and border eachother.

​@@monkeymoment6478 the shias of egypt and seljuk sunnis were against each other though.. that was the whole point behind the fatimid caliph aligning himself with the crusaders, so they could team up against the seljuks. Of course, if the fatimids knew the true intentions of the crusaders and the waves of men brewing up in western europe, they probably would have taken a different position towards them. The crusades would have undoubtedly failed if the muslims were the looming monolith the catholics thought they were. Instead, you had sectarianism and factionalism across the numerous sultanates, emirates and even caliphates (baghdadi and cairene versions)

I just did this and my save corrupted :( was about to have massive fun too lol after I formed the empire I took over Deccan India and converted their cultures and had war elephants and horse archers with bombards lol and an army of 130k levies I could literally crusade on my own and owned all of the southern map by alliance or force and I was heartbroken to see it no longer there lol I had like 7 different family rulers too who got random kingdoms like crusader Italy after I would win the crusades

Restore the Roman Empire. Starting as a Hellenic Duke or a Count. I started in 867 and made a Hellenic Norse Greek monster that took the Byzantine Empire over. But boy do all the extra duchies take lifetimes to get. I'm 4 duckies away and at the year 1049.

I’m just doing this challenge but I made it even harder, first I elevated the kingdom of mon & the isles with Ivar The Boneless (which was a challenged in of itself) I then converted to Catholicism with Ivar’s heir & grandson, Won the first crusade With my Aunt (Ivar the boneless daughter) as the primary heir. I’m now in the verge of forming the outermer empire with Ivar The Boneless’ Grandson 😂😂 how funny Ivar’s descendants turn into Christian crusaders

My greatest run ever was starting as the duke of Bavaria, restore the holy roman empire to the old Charlemagne borders, Crusade Jerusalem, create the Outremer empire, get all holy sites, create a new religion and conquer everything from britannia, north africa, persian russia and scandinavia and recreate the greatest Roman Empire with all this empires as de jure.... ahhhhhh good times
