I spent 60 years absolutely convinced that I could never learn to paint(I have almost no depth perception) and so I never tried until a few months ago. In December I sustained a traumatic brain injury which didn’t help, but I know now that even I can learn and your beginner tutorials are wonderful, simplistic and yet so intricate and beautiful. This project here is going to be my first watercolour thank-you card to give to a friend. Thank you so much for inspiring me. It feels like you’re here with me, guiding me along each step!❤

Wow that's another amazing story ..although I've been painting a lot longer but this affect I could never get right since I haven't seem it taught like this I finally after 5 years of doing watercolor can I get it ..she explains it so well and I too have been through my own issues as well where covid almost killed me collapsing my stents coding more then 3 times and thinking I wouldn't be able to paint again or at least paint these beautiful flowers so happy for you too ❤ glad I found her 😊

You are doing the best thing possible to create neural pathways in your brain, because my research indicates that PAINTING and SCULPTURE are the very best activities for firing your brain cells. Crafting and Woodworking also have benefits, but not as many as Painting and Sculpture. Evidently it has to do with the Creativity required to think about your creation, coupled with practicing hand/eye coordination. The point is: you do NOT have to be good at it, you just have to do it. You do not have to show anybody the result -- you could actually throw it in the trash once done because you already realized the benefits just from the creation. Keep it up -- your brain will be happy!

Please, please don't give up just because some tutorials go too fast or you don't jive with the style whatever the case my be. Please give yourself time, and just play and have fun. Discover the beauty of this medium even if you just play and learn from playing. I mean this sincerely. If you feel you truly enjoy it, please don't let the pace of youtube tutorials take the joy away from you. Stay with it. I think you would be surprised, you may even find a person who does tutorials in a style that you click with. I just didn't want you to be thinking about giving up simply based on frustrations. @@grammyrosethompson650 Thank you so much for the encouragement. I have taken a break from painting for a month and feel ready to get back into it. I have kept nearly everything I've painted in portfolios - the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am glad I did, because I can look back on them and see I have progressed fairly well since my first ever try. I can look at them now and understand what I could do differently next time for a better outcome. I'm getting a good idea of what I prefer to paint. I have always loved nature, especially trees and mountains. Maybe that's why I do better in that area. Last November, feeling down and a bit discouraged, I instead turned to painting a few simple Christmas cards. That was fun and they turned out so good I even sent a few. I found that switching to a totally different subject, taking a break for awhile, or doing mini practice sessions on just one thing seems to be the best way for me to 'get my groove back'. Once, for several days I practiced painting clouds only, with no plan to turn it into a complete picture. I was soon pleased with the results. I am grateful for the artists who make free videos, because I do learn a lot from them.

I'm going to try to paint this tonight. If it comes out a 1/3 as good as yours , I'll be thrilled. I'm just learning how to watercolor. I've painted with acrylics before year's ago. Watercolor painting is completely different. I've wondered if I'm going to be able to complete my journey with it because it's a different stroke every time. No matter what you do it never comes out the same. What I'm trying to say is you can't repeat the same picture over. I hope I'm making sense. Sorry, I've got headache and my brain isn't working like it should right now. I do love your painting it's so delicate looking and beautiful. I do like the way you teach, it's relateable. Yes, I totally understand what you are saying! I myself paint with acrylic, oil, and watercolor, and I can tell you, watercolor has been the most challenging for me. It has taken me years of practice and perseverance, but I am so glad I didn’t give up because watercolor has become my favorite medium! 🥰 I’m here to encourage you each step on your journey, and please be patient with yourself! Don’t try to compare your work to mine or other “professionals”….I’ve been at this a long time. 😉 Compare your work to your work. Save your paintings, (even if you don’t think they’re good), then pull them out look at them again in a few months or even a year, and I think you’ll be surprised at the improvement you’ve made. 💕 Thank you for watching and good luck on your watercolor journey! This is a very good tutorial. Enough details, and with some repetition to make the lesson stick. It is so calming, watching you work. I have found myself gravitating towards yellows and pinks for flowers so this is definitely a must try. Soon. With a limited colour palette. Thank you very much!

The last 2 days I have watched your videos on flowers, layering, shadows bc I'm a nailtech and habe started my watercolor journey on nails, and I like it a lot. Then I was on a course where we had to learn to use our palette, drawing sommerholiday mickey mousse with palm tress in the background and a hibiscus flower, and let me tell you that flower, got me into trouble. Until I fell into your site. So last night I had a live on Facebook where I painted rises and a butterfly and being aware of where to put the pressure of the brush and so on.
