Other detail in Splinter Cell: During the mission at the CIA headquarter you pass by 2 agents listening to a recording of the main antagonist (Nikoladze) speaking. One of them claims that he hears a chain rattling in the background and the other a cow. This is a foreshadowing of the abbatoire level later in the game, where Nikoladze set his base of operation.

I'm so thrilled to see Splinter Cell up there where it deserves to be. The lighting and shadows are still so gorgeous to this day, and even through the first two games have several bugs, it's still always a joy to discover little details like these in those games. The hidden dialogue between specific NPCs and events are my favorites. There's a bunch of easter eggs and details in the first game that still make it one of my favorites to this day. You can just tell that a lot of love was put into it. It's a shame that's not the case anymore nowadays.
