Still...one of the most beautiful late-Romantic symphonies ever, by anyone. It certainly seems to be Atterberg's finest work by far.

Have to disagree. The third symphony is really miles above the rest.

Fantastic. My first hearing of this super work. Beautifully scored and the horn parts are superbly considerate. In other words not too high, no gratuitous top C's. Plenty for all the section to do. Enough rests and lots of tunes!!

Hiw to butcher a masterpiece with the wrong tempi. I usually love Jarvi, but this will come in handy in my conductor class to demonstrate the importance of tempi...

Yeah, I've kind of soured on the Jarvi recordings, though they were easier to find than other ones. He's a bit wooden as a conductor. I might remake some of the score vids with other recordings.
