Charlotte Cleverley-Bisman was only 6 months old when she lost all four limbs to meningitis. Now almost a teen, finding her place in the world is proving to be a challenge. But she’s not alone.
Her two mentors, Californian cool dude Cameron Clapp and gold medalist swimmer Cameron Leslie, are showing Charlotte how to do things for herself and stand on her own two feet.

The mom needs counselling. It looks like she still feels so much guilt about what happened to Charlotte. But as a mom she did the right thing by administering paracetamol, she could not have known that it was meningitis. She's a babying mom, but even with that she's a super hero. She deserves a little bit of credit.

Valken she did, she did take her to the hospital ASAP. Meningitis moves through the body with absolutely terrifying speed, if you have never actually watched it take hold of a person yourself you have no idea. It is a 48 hour thing or less. The mother did absolutely everything she could.

hypnotherapy69 if u watch all of her videos on KZbin u will see there times her mum pushes her and try’s to make her do things with Charlotte fighting her the whole way and her dad too, she even took her to America for 3 weeks to try different postetics for her legs and one of her arms and Charlotte cry’s and fights her the whole time, that’s why her mum looks so worn out for her age she’s constantly trying to push her to do things but I know what u mean when her mum uses the excuse of her tendons were cut it makes it harder for her, and that’s why I think the other Cameron bought the other guy Cameron along too because one of them was born with no limbs and the other one wasn’t so he knows what Charlotte is going thru and together they’ve managed to get her to do more, she will get better as she gets older too, young kids sometimes get lazy and give up easily but she will become more determined as she gets older and hopefully give her mum a break her mum needs one xxx

I agree somewhat. Not that she (mom) doubts Charlotte. In fact , she's her biggest supporter. However , I do feel as though the guilt she harbors tends to make her want to "baby" Charlotte continuously. Which is definitely not helping anyone. She needs to let go of the guilt. None of what happened is her fault. I hope she seeks some psychological help. For her own well being, as well as Charlottes. I wish them all strength and continued support. And much love ❤❤

So thankful that these two young men want to help encourage Charlotte and work with her. My mom has amputations due to septic shock from chemo. She had to learn how to walk on prosthetics at the age of 70. Very proud of her. It was wonderful to see Charlotte walk so much in the park. What encouraged my Mom was having another person with similar amputations come see her in the hospital and seeing that he was able to walk with prosthetics. These two young men doing this for Charlotte is extremely important and will help her tremendously.

Seiko Shinohara Her mom needs to not baby her it will only hinder her and it probably tires the mom out. I say this having Spina Bifida and a mother who still tries to hover and baby me at 31 but when I lost my leg I put an end to it. It is understandable but not healthy for anyone invovled. Moms deserve their own time, things, headspace if I fall it is not the end of the world and I was up and walking on my prosthetic the first day I got it.

None of Your business Charlotte was born in 2003. Likely that she was born before the cutoff date like I was and would have had to pay out of pocket if I didn’t go to a school which was at high risk for having the illness. Or that she was too young to receive the vaccine at the time she got sick. Too many variables to consider here really.

The mom doesn't deserve this much hate. She may be a bit skeptical and defensive, but she's just being protective. She had to be confinced her daughter could be more independent just like Charlotte had to be. This was just a 28-minute video. She explained to Cameron why her daughter's situation was different from his. And she did push Charlotte when trying out the first legs. It's good for her to see she can do more than they both used to believe.

I don’t hate the mother, but I think she held her daughter back quite a bit. My mom was so much less protective and that pushed me to be as independent as possible. I had to figure out life as a paraplegic on my own and it gave me huge satisfaction to be successful in the end. There’s a difference between being protective and being stifling. It wasn’t so much the doing up seatbelts and picking her up into the car; it was the making excuses for every time Charlotte said she couldn’t do something that was damaging. That’s stifling.

I'm sad to see how harsh some of the comments here are. There's actually another Attitude video about a man who loses both legs above the knee in an accident. He was very fit before his amputation, has working hands to use crutches and catch himself if he falls, is highly motivated, and has an adult ability to push himself, yet the doctors are STILL quite cautious about making predictions and point out that among people who lose both legs above the knee, those who learn to use prosthetics well enough to walk well are actually the _minority_. It is genuinely an objectively difficult athletic task, which uses a lot of strength and balance. Sure, it would be great if she learned to use them well, but it's not somehow shameful to use a wheelchair.

junbh2 Great points. There is a higher energy cost to walk with a prosthetic. Also, just like a person who wears contact lenses should have backup prescription eyeglasses, I would think that a lower limb amputee should have a wheelchair. Perhaps Charlotte and her mom could find the video of the guy who ports his own kayak and kayaks independently. Ultimately, it is up to her. I may watch professional athletes and admire their skill, but it doesn't mean that I want that for myself. Yet, daily living is something we all must go through....

I could not imagine for one minute how that mum feels. Having to watch her baby one moment sleeping and the next, having no limbs. I would most likely feel guilty too and want to do everything for her. Unless you are in her position, you could not say with absolute certainty how you would do things and how you would manage things with your child. Sure I can easily say I would make sure my child learnt to do things on her own and give them tough love, but I'm fortunate enough to not have to deal with these issues to know.

I think it's wonderful that Charlotte grew up with this support and love around her. Charlotte is 20 years old now and has done many sports, been an advocate, she's lovely. ❤ I personally feel a bit sad on how much time was spent on her prosthetics. Charlotte never seemed to really like them or feel comfortable in them. It was clear early on that they did not work well for her and even though prosthetics are a miracle, some find that they just get along better and can be more mobile without them. That their time is better spent learning to be as independent as possible in other ways. From what I've seen on social media, Charlotte now uses a wheel chair or hoverboard to get around not prosthetics. She also has a wonderful service dog. 🙂

Everyone is too harsh toward Pam. She's exhausted because they don't have a careteam. Most quadriplegic will have multiple caretakers but Pam is doing it all and on an island without a lot of resources. Yes, she's now holding her back- she admitted that in the start that she's too exhausted and doesn't have time to do everything. They simply need more help so Pam can stop having to do it all, however that's even more costly. She needs to give herself a break. And be proud she raised a happy daughter. Good work Pam.

Wow!! She's so amazing and inspiring! I love seeing the strength in other amputees, I lost my hand in a boating accident (it was ripped off by a rope) 4 years ago as-well. Always looking to encourage other amputees and believe in their beauty. If you feel like checking out my story, you can watch it here! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYLJZIuPdsutpNk

She is awesome, and so is her mom! Her mom deserves a break, because taking care of a differently abled child on your own is the hardest thing in the world. Part of being a good parent is teaching your children to try new things and push them... but another part is keeping them safe, supporting them, and holding them back until they are ready to handle things on their own. And clearly the daughter is ready ti take on the world! 🎉🌞🌹🌟 You can tell she is an amazing mom, because her daughter is amazing, and kids don't turn out that great without an awesome loving parent. I wish I could send mom on a paid vacation for a couple weeks. 😃

Those young men are amazing, to say the least I hope they continue to support her, her mum needs help! She is holding her back because of her own guilt, Mum your not helping her, step back let her do it even when it’s hard don’t help her, you have to make her do it or will never be able to function on her own.

It amuses me that people watch a positive attitude and mindset video channel then leave a bunch of negative mindset comments. You all need to take a deep breath of fresh outside air and inhale and exhale with a huge smile and you will feel so much better. :) I think both Camerons and Charlotte are all extraordinary people with great outlook on life! The mother has gone through horrific trauma, remember that before you hate on her. She will feel so much better when she sees her daughter thrive because she will with this great head on her shoulders. Especially after seeing what is possible!

I have spent a lot of time with people with various disabilities and the biggest Charlotte has is her mother. You hear her say that time wise it’s quicker for her to do it than let Charlotte so how is the poor girl ever going to learn and adapt. Sadly she will have to fit into the world not the other way. The two Cameron’s are doing amazing things for her and “go” them.

I think that a 6 month old baby is too young to get the vaccine.. Nowhere did I hear that her mother did not give her the vaccine on purpose! I think all of you mean people should give the mom a break; Charlotte is 11 years old and it is not always easy to get your child to exercise or do something that is painful. I noticed when they went to the park and she had different prosthetics she was walking pretty well. Cameron was even impressed with her, and I thought she looked like maybe she lost a bit of weight. Charlotte was trying hard to please Cameron and show him how well she could walk. The mom was not hanging over her shoulder trying to baby her. She is doing a great job, and so are you, Charlotte. You are a beautiful girl with a sparkling personality. You will go far in life, whether it be on prosthetics or in a wheelchair. There is no shame in using a wheelchair.

The mom is obviously depressed and needs to seek help. I can't imagine the horrible ordeal they went through, but as a parent and the biggest influence on her daughter's overall health , not only her physical needs but her mental , emotional needs . She can easily just give up , give in and stop trying at all , the mom is just so negative and can really affect her daughter's life either in a negative way or positive way. Its not just her that has the task of moving towards and I gotta say it was a little unsettling almost the entire time , I hope for charlottes sake her mum is able to seek the help she needs or finds someone to grow old with as well. Idk it seems like there's a lot going on besides just this.

Her mum is really holding her back. "It's too hard for her" Maybe you should let her decide for herself and encourage her... At the begining she was even saying how it was just easier to do things for her, and then she went on to compain about it. I feel like she's acting like the victim here....

People like this just need reliable biomechanical limbs that truly work! So they'd be less handicapped! Because adapting your limbless bodys' limitations is like being a bald eagle that can't fly! And in nature eagles rely on flying to survive, if they couldn't fly they wouldn't adapt to flightlessness. They would just die!
