In other words, the way that Geneva's community treats her and believes in her limitless potential has definitely helped with her success. I hope people can watch this and recognize the importance of a positive support system, for this is beautiful example. This was so great to watch, and so well-done. Sadly, it's very easy to immediately look down on someone who is different. It's videos like these and interactions with individuals like Geneva that remind us that just because someone has a disability, that absolutely does not mean that they are beneath us, know less than us, or are less capable. Geneva's a beautiful girl. My best friend has CP too. Sh e has 3 college degrees and drives a van, yet can't find a job in her degree field because of people's attitudes. Her CP is very mild, but with my LD, I kinda know how she feels because with just 1 degree I also had trouble finding jobs too. One advice: don't move to a small town, especially in the South. People here are horribly backwards; even at the college where we met, they didn't thing she should go into teaching. They let a girl go into teaching who couldn't pass the teacher certification test, yet wouldn't give my friend a chance. Fortunately, after her 3rd degree, she passed and became a substitute teacher. She also worked retail before sh e got married, moved to a small town, and had her son. He's 15 now and doing fine so far.

The more I watch these videos from Attitude, the more I realize that USA is horribly failing our disabled community. Seeing examples from other nations on how to simply treat differently-abled people with dignity and watching them shine when held to a high standard is beautiful and really sets the bar high for us as well. I hope to see citizens of the USA treated with as much value as New Zealand and Australia treats all of their citizens. This is truly what being inclusive looks like. Much love.

It's so odd to me how I can relate so much with this as all of these things have been issues that I have overcome throughout my life in order to keep surviving. At my best when I could stay calm, I am completely normal and seem to outperform everyone around me. The moment I feel anxiety creeping in it's like my whole body shuts down and my mind is just barely holding on. Now I have multiple panic attacks a day which causes me to only have energy to physically do things for maybe 2 to 6 hours in a day. Never knew what was wrong with me as due to my anxiety I can mask all of my symptoms very easily and cannot properly communicate under anxiety. The thing is that the only thing in my medical file that suggests CP came around 5 years ago when I developed chronic pain from a nerve contusion. Nothing came out of all the imaging tests and nerve tests except that my reflexes were hyperactive and a bunch of other neurological issues that I was showing. That's when a neurologist suggested that it is most likely a form of mild cerebral palsy. I didn't understand what that meant then as I made it to the age of 25 before I started seeing my health issues as actual issues in my life when it just kept falling apart no matter how hard I tried. The good thing is that I'm getting better at it every time. I still don't know how I maintained full time jobs for around 9 years straight and was even a supervisor for the last 3 years in the mining sample prepping division of a couple labs. In my eyes I'm still normal and have no disabilities as it's all I know. My life makes more and more sense the more I'm discovering about my body the hard way lol through experience. I grew up in an area that was pretty much in another era of time. People don't understand what they don't go through. Still don't know what's actually wrong with me just know that I could somehow relate to this.

My wife has CP, she can talk and use both legs, but the left side of her body has been compromised, she doesn't have balance to walk by herself and her left hand is very compromised. Even though we can have a good life and now we have a daughter. Our baby was born this year. We are married for almost 7 years.

I have mild cp and I walk but sometimes I feel pain. People ask me what is wrong with my leg I walk with a limp. I DON'T THINK ITS ANYONES BUSINESS. SOMETIMES I say that or that I got hurt. I am a mom and i am divorced. Just because someone has a disability doesn't mean that you can't have a life.
