Today was one of those days when, as a mom of a baby boy with DS, you think how am I gonna cope with all this! But then I get on this channel and start watching the documentaries of DS friends out there doing great I have my hopes up again. Thanks for the great stories. And thank you David for all your amazing work! I'm also a big believer of 'be the change yourself' by Gandhi. Hope to see more of your work and watch all the DS episodes with Siolta when he's older! Xxx

As a nurse with psychiatry as a special field I've worked many years with people with DS. They were not much different from most people besides they needed more time to learn their daily routines. They had all different personalities like the rest of us, and that was for social and working skills too. I really loved to work with most of them, and became good friends with some. The young man in the video is most impressive and reminds me a lot about a young woman I worked with for 6-7 years. We had wonderful conversations, even if she had a little trouble forming full sentences and she had crazy humor just like me 😁 Unfortunately she got cancer and passed away after a short period of treatment. I loved her 😢

David, You're a fantastic leader and advocate and I really appreciate you taking your time to allow the cameras into your busy life. The work you're doing is so critical, especially right now. Please keep up the great work and know that families in MN are following your leadership and hoping that your voice resonates throughout the Midwest.

His mother just said something critical during the video - "...you have to follow (14:45) every little thing.." Well, then maybe, to slow down, focus on the small, may be in fact the greatest gift. There is a sort of "Zen" to that. It is something I find enormously enriching. Our mother had dementia,, which is another kind of cognitive difference - one brought on by old age. We kept focused on the small..no on what she was losing, but on what she still HAD...and our lives were so much richer for it. And mom BTW lived to be 95!!!

These parents are amazing. David is equally amazing. What a wonderful family. He is such a distinguished gentleman who proves that everyone is capable of whatever they want as long as they put in the work. He’s is an example we should all look up to.

That is insane, horrifying and tragic that I just learned that in some countries most or all pregnancies with babies with Down syndrome are terminated! No! That is so terrifying, awful, sickening!!!! They bring joy and contribute. Amazing humans!!!!!!!!! And he, in this documentary, works too! He excelled in sports and giving speeches! He speaks with such poise. I am so glad his parents had him. 💗😁

I’ve learned so much from your documentaries. I was never prejudiced against people with disabilities, but I didn’t know how much diversity existed within those groups. These documentaries have not only helped me understand and learn about different disabilities I had never herd of, but they also have taught me not to underestimate people’s capabilities. Thank you very much!

Amazingly talented man! Olympic legend and advocate. So much pride in so many achievements! The sports game really showed how his enthusiasm and team spirit really lifts up everyone. From his words you can hear how much he thinks about others and works to be supporting others and make big changes in the world 💜

I am so glad this encouraged you! Don't let a diagnosis define how you parent your child! As a medical professional I have noticed: the parents that have had the most success with disabled children, are those who treated their children as they had no disabilities. They had the same expectations for their child as any other "normal " child. Then their children rose to the occasion 😊

He is the exception, not the rule. Those with less opportunity, or less ability, must be accepted at the level they are at, then there is true equality.
