If my GF got injured while hiking or walking, my first thought would be to call for help and put them into the vehicle so we can hightail it to a Ranger. Brian is trying to justify murder with not only himself but anyone who read his writings. He probably injured her himself and refused help because anyone would know he did it.
@katarina1852

Mercy killing? He “took away her pain” because she injured her head?? Bull crap! You don’t strangle a loved one who is injured so they will die, you get them help so they will live. If she had a head injury, Brian would likely have been the cause of it. I believe he was probably trying to set up a pathetic explanation for killing Gabby because he knew he would eventually be caught, but decided on suicide instead. He was trying to run away from what he did. Brian dodged responsibility for his actions until the bitter end. He was a coward, a liar and a murderer.

There is no such thing as a “ merciful act of murder”!!! IF ANY of this is true…He hit her head with a rock and that’s what caused her to fall. That’s also what caused her to shake violently, not breathe properly and not be able to speak much. He didn’t try to carry her to safety, he carried her to the spot where he strangled her to death. The not claims he was so tired he couldn’t carry her anymore- but he had enough energy to get to the van and drive to Florida??? As an “ expert” camper/hiker, he’d definitely have flares and a cell phone on him, he could have gotten attention to help Gabby, who he “ loved so much “! This is not a confession! This is a delusional story made up by his parents!!!!

I really think he pushed her while physically fighting. She fell into the shallow water, hit her forehead on the rocks, got concussion, lost consciousness. He now figured she wouldn't be able to continue the trip w/o medical help. He got scared his abuse would be revealed as she would tell what happened. Especially after the Utah police interaction. And just decided to end her, hoping she wouldn't be found before he flees the country.

Those people have lied all along. I don't believe they know how to Speak the Truth. When their daughter spoke to the Media I believed in that moment She was Not speaking the Truth. And all these months later I still believe she was lying. When Brian was stopped in Moab, he down right lied..."I don't have a phone!".. Just one example. But, it really doesn't matter. Brian murdered Gabby ,and his parents did the wrong thing by not helping Brian Turn himself in to the Authorities or seeking Medical Care. Brians' parents are guilty of aiding and abetting their son escape the law and Kill himself also. They knew his state of mind. Suicide is also a crime. I think it's so funny their Lawyer didn't know about Roberta's letter to Brian. He said... The Truth will come out. And The Truth did come out so Fast, in the same day! I say.. Hallelujah! Thank God! Yes, I am sure they were told what he did. What can they be charged with in reality except for possibly obstruction of justice? We don't know what the circumstances were... We know that their son was a coward who did not want to face " justice." We don't know if they pleaded for him to turn himself in or actually assisted with his fleeing from justice which ultimately led to his (well deserved)demise as well. Everything else is pure speculation. I can only imagine that if they raised such a horrible person who can abuse, murder, try to escape accountability, etc......the entire family dysfunction is deep. The dysfunction is evident by their shameful lack of awareness of who the actual victims are.

The letter ‘Burn After You Read This’ was allegedly written pertaining a movie 🍿 🎥 Mrs. Laundrie watched that Brian may have refered her to watched before all this mayhem. The movie synopsis: Burn After Reading is a 2008 black comedy spy film written, produced, edited and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.[5] It follows a recently jobless CIA analyst, Osbourne Cox (John Malkovich) whose misplaced memoirs are found by a pair of dimwitted gym employees (Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt). When they mistake the memoirs for classified government documents, they undergo a series of misadventures in an attempt to profit from their find. The film also stars George Clooney as a womanizing U.S. Marshal, Tilda Swinton as Katie Cox, the wife of Osbourne Cox, Richard Jenkins as the gym manager, and J.K. Simmons as a CIA supervisor. We will see the truth soon. This case is very sad for both families. Both their children are gone.

@@Southerngirl0997 I know exactly what karma means. It means the gift of work. You are presented with the opportunity to learn lessons so that you may grow, be a better person, and effect the world in a more positive way. Even when you look up the definition you are still focused on processing it as a negative thing. You come from a hate culture of self-righteous capitalists who like the idea of bashing. I will say it again - karma has absolutely nothing to do with creating balance by inflicting harm. When you wish someone karma it isn't a magical spell that results in the person having misfortune. Wishing someone karma is like wishing them good fortune and peace. You haven't come to that understanding during your priveledged lifestyle of waiting for child labor to feed you, for human trafficking to supply for you, and for indentured human slaves to mercilessly torture animals because you refuse to do it yourself. You are spoiled and enraged and that's how you process your values. You take a concept from someone else's culture and insist on misusing it to mistreat others. Bashing cultures as well. John Walsh was right. They ARE the dirty laundries! I always had the overt feeling, especially when negative comments she made about Gabby came to light and the ex female co worker of hers she had handpicked for Brian to replace Gabby. The husband followed hus wife's lead. Brian was the "golden child" to Roberta and her daughter Cassie the ugly duckling. That's why Cassie was so hesitant to speak. @@ellen9575 Yes, I do because I was following the case very closely. A couple named Bethune were driving into a section of the Grand Teton National Park campground next to Spread Creek and spotted Gabby’s van with Florida plates on August 27th. of that year. Mrs. Bethune wanted to stop and ask them where they lived because they too were from Florida. They decided not to stop because the campsite appeared to be deserted. They were filming their discovery on their dash-cam. Later, when she and her husband finished their trip and returned to their home in Florida, it was all over the news about Gabby missing and Brian returned without her in her van and the Petito’s had filed a missing person’s complaint. Mrs. Bethune started reviewing her dash-cam videos and discovered she had video of them passing Gabby’s van at Spread Creek. She called the FBI and gave them the video. Gabby’s body was discovered within hours several hundred yards across Spread Creek in what looked like a makeshift campsite on September 19th! Without the Bethune’s video, no one knew where she was last seen. The coroner estimated her to have been strangled on or about August 27th! So, Brian was probably killing her across the creek at the very time the Bethune’s spotted her van! There was evidence that there was a campfire pit where her body was found.

When I saw Brian’s behavior I knew in my soul he was the abuser and that he was enjoying making her look unglued. I knew then that she was in trouble but the cops blew it completely and blamed Gabby. Then he lined up some rocks in the form of a cross in memorial to her.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I got the impression that Roberta was the dominant member of the Laundrie household ... narcissistic and with a "my way or the highway" attitude. It was toxic when they dated on and off in high school. Friends reported physical fights screaming matches at school, andclots of shoving. But her two sets of parents were bustpyvwith new spouse and kids and she smiled and said all is well. She told her friends she didn't tell her family during high school how bad she and Brian fought. Then they broke up. Meet in their 20s and start up again, and her birth fathers assessment, he thinks Brian is a great guy!! Are you paying attention? She didn't spend much yime with her dad once he moved to Florida to be nearer to her. Her friends said she was afraid he'd see her stress and sometimes bruises. So we have a controlling abusive Nan, with a likely bpd gf who has weak personal boundaries and keeps settling for Brian because she feels alone and like she can't do better. Sad.

I don't believe Brian's story it at all. I highly suspect that Brian, with urging from parents, wanted to leave a different narrative as to what happened so that when he was arrested, they could point at the notebook during the trial to sow doubt and get a less harsh punishment from the jury. Note book probably written while he was at home with parents. What they didn't suspect was that Brian would do tax payers a favor and end his life. I doubt that there was any 'mercy killing'. He got jealous and went into a rage because she either broke up with him or because of all the social media attention from guys. She was probably getting a lot of comments from guys about her looks. Murderers often spin fantasies that paint them as a caring, empathic, hero who was forced to kill the person. Perhaps she really was in pain, and begging him, but I have no doubt the pain was caused from his physical abuse. I believe he killed her in a fit of rage, which of course he'd rather not confess to. He's a piece of shit that didn't fall far from the tree. I can only think his parents weren't all that surprised that he killed her.

Mercy killed her, near her van in an area with good cell service.... Hmmm. I know if my beloved girlfriend were to get injured, i wouldnt move mountains to get her out, I would just strangle her to get her out if pain because she would want that.... I don't think so.

Did he ask her permission first right. Also any good hiker instinctively knows where their vehicle is, it's not like he would have been able to hear her scream, which I think he also wrote yelled her own name, if he was too far away from her he would have known she was in the water either direction that the scream came from it's not rocket science. And the wrong state, written before all the details were in oopsie

Supposedly, they had a fight and mom was forcing her son to break up with her and get rid of all of her things. The loss of control over his home life and relationship probably caused him to go full “if I can’t have you no one can.” Imagine his killing spree started in Utah, and that’s why mom mentions it in the notes she forged, posing as him. Brian had probably told his mother everything.

From experience, my guess is.. they only put up with him. They didn't like him, is the vibe I get. So in order to save their relationship, they moved in with his parents. I sense animosity and an untold story behind the scenes that led to this. I also feel Brian's parents cared as much about gabby as they did their son... not a whole lot. Sp they tried to play the cool parents and let her move in. But that's as far as it went, everything they did was selfish. And km betting the mom was the problem and the dad just went along to hey along. (Brian's parentd)

Stg I’m all but back on the “Brian ain’t dead” conspiracy after seeing this (sorta kidding, sorta not lol). His mom wrote this.. That’s what I think. The way it was worded was pretty weird. “I have killed myself by this creek..”.. I mean idk, I certainly don’t know how he talks, but seems it would’ve been worded something like “If you’re reading this, I am no longer here” or “As of the time I’m writing this, my plan is to end my life” something other than I “have” killed myself. Like seriously? So, did you write this from the great beyond, Brian?

Yeah, someone is only angry and refuses help when injured from the PERSON WHO CAUSED THE INJURY. If that part is true, then no wonder. I can only imagine how it would feel to be hurt by someone and then them try to apologize and help. I would flipping trust them, I mean.. look what their hands were just capable of. No way. Gabby fought for her life, I'm telling you. There is alot of untruths in this story, that I know. Brian and his family and lawyers have carefully cultivated and concocted a story. And a horribly unbelievable one at that. Why did they switch lawyers? Maybe the first lawyer was drug into it all and didn't want to be held liable, knowing what he knew. His family chose him for a reason. They knew him well, they chose someone close, thinking they could pull one over on him or at the very least use their past together to manipulate him into doing what they wanted.

That second to last bit of the notes- reminds me of the “on scene” reporters who constantly reiterate what should be plain to see. I still stand behind my hypothesis that Brain and Gabby got into another fight and Brian strangled her in anger only to realize afterwards that he had killed her and he panicked and did lots of stupid stuff and his family helped him do some more stupid stuff because they knew Gabby was dead, but thought their son shouldn't go to jail because it was an "accident" even though it was still a serious violent felony.
@Beadledom2024

Do you know how long it takes to strangle someone to death? Over 4 minutes with your hand in a tight vice (it's exhaustingfor the killer). It's no accident when it happens. Victim is fighting you for the first half and then you still have to keep the vice for way longer after they pass out. Plenty of time to change your mind. It's the most overtly cruel, intimate, and intentional ways of murdering. Shoot someone, push them off a cliff, etc, sure, instant act, instant regret. But not strangulation....

Considering Brian is right handed and was shot in the left side of his head. Maybe the mercy killing wasnt the ending of Gabbys life but the ending of Brians life by his parents. Parents could have written the letter after what they learned from Brian on their weird inappropriate camping trip after returning home without Gabby. Are Brian’s parents acting like people that may have done something like kill their son. Ask yourself.
