Attract butterflies to your garden with this tough native ground cover

I am in MD. I was walking on a wooded trail the other day and discovered and was struck by the simple beauty of Pussytoes (Woman's Tobacco, Cat-Paw) for the first time ever. I had my plant identifier app and photographed and identified it. I brought home several samples and planted them in various places. They are thriving in all areas. Yes, my first thought was "The flower looks like the feet of my cats!" I love the enthusiasm you have for plants, as I share that same love and enthusiasm for what's out there! Wonderful vid.

Pollinator plants get all the glory but you need host plants if you want to keep those insect populations up! Many butterflies (and other insects) are equally as picky about host plants as monarchs-- and many of them depend on groundcovers, grasses, and things we'd normally call weeds! It's important to have a good mix.

Hi! I live in S Manitoba. Was mowing the grass on a lot, noticed their colors, looked up the plant and here I am:) Thanks, I plan on digging the little plant up and moving yo sunny, dry part of my yard!
