I realize now that I'm watching them side by side, that Tiana's Bayou Adventure feels like someone took a child picture book and turned it into a ride. Tiana: Louis is up ahead! Let's find a band for our celebration! *Turn the page* Louis: Calling all musicians! Man, it sure it hard to find a band! *Turn the page* Tiana: They can play, no doubt! We'll ask them to join the band for sure. You get the idea. It feels very much like a children 's-themed ride instead of a ride for everyone. Add that to the overall lack of animatronics throughout the ride and it feels more dull compared to Splash Mountain.

One thing I do want to point out, is that Disney Imagineering was giving us updates about the critters having names, a back story and a personality. However, they're just "there"..... existing. No talking, no interactions, no dialogue, and no singing. Which also seems like a wasted use of them to an extent. They could've done more with them. Now in comparison to Splash, yes most are singing, but you also have a few that at least have dialogues and side conversations.

Yeah, the large stretches of dead space are really bringing Tiana's down. I do think the exterior is an absolute improvement, but the interior show scenes are weaker in comparison to Splash Mountain. Especially the final stretch before the final drop.

The exterior wasn't an improvement either. A bunch of fake plants that are going to age quickly being tossed over hand sculpted concrete and detailed isn't better. All Splash needed was a paint job and it would have looked spectacular again.

Difference in a ride built for a story and a 'story' forced to a ride. They just never work out. Oh it will be mobbed and the line will be long, but overall it just is less even with new improvements in animatronics, screens, and technology. Just look at Fantasy Springs with new rides made to tell the stories, what's done is done, but we all knew what the result would be.

this is genuinely very interesting what with everyone's complaints about tiana's "not having enough animatronics" or "too much dead space." At a glance from the video, Splash has just a few more animatronics than Tiana does, be it maybe one more bigger scene or some smaller scale animatronics like frogs or ducks. but a lot of the new show scenes are in similar spaces to Splash or nearby so it's not all too different in terms of placement. the 'too much dead space' complaint is especially interesting since, much like above having show scenes in similar spaces, theres a lot of space in Splash too but the difference is how it's used. Both rides start in a garden but! Splash has fun physical sets like houses, bird houses, clothes line, it feels lived in! It's the type of universe that has a sort of animal society, if you will. Whereas the bayou in Tiana's.... is a bayou. the animals that live there don't really have a society with houses like they do in Splash. The closest we come to this is the fireflies dancing along the screens and in the bottles or the frogs playing drums, but there's nothing nearly as fun as little houses, the clothesline, it doesn't feel as lived in as Splash's setting. that's why it has so much dead space in contrast. I don't think Tiana's is ~the worst thing imagineering has ever created~ but it's definitely less exciting than Splash.

I wasnt 100 percent against them swapping to Tiana when they announced it. I was hoping that the update would have a new fresh update and updated scenery. Granted the updated animatronics are nice but the lack of story and the wasted space just hurts. Why change something that was well loved and not do something better with it? They had so many places they could have done so much more. One of my friends said, "Not putting friends on the other side as the drop song is a BIG missed opportunity." I have to agree with her. It's just lacking.

The only parts I think could potentially be as good or even slightly better that Splash is the bayou trees and things at the curve around the flume before you climb the first lift hill, the first lift hill itself, and the outside area after the first lift hill that used to have all of the little critters’ homes before you hit the first indoor portion. After that, it is all trash. But you know what was well-integrated? The whole steamboat full of dancing animatronic chickens and other dozens of other critters in Splash. Screens are a downgrade 99% of the time when it comes to attractions. This whole ride is a downgrade in every single possible way, so no, I can’t say I particularly like screens replacing what used to be dozens of really cool animatronics. I feel no need to grasp at straws in an attempt to justify the cheapening of this awful ride. Real animatronics are always better than any screen.

I haven't been to Walt Disney World with my parents before, but I find this ride video to be very helpful to observe as a side-by-side comparison between Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Splash Mountain. I don't often comment on KZbin but felt compelled to here. I think that one's opinion on this subject is based on the person's age and history at Disneyland. I'm as nostalgic and sentimental regarding Disneyland's classic rides as anyone. That being said, I'm surprised to find that I actually see Tiana's Bayou Adventure as an enhanced experience. First, there would have been no Splash Mountain had they not closed Carousel of Progress and replaced it with America Sings, which contained most if not all of the animatronics that ended up repurposed in Splash Mountain. As to storytelling, I just watched the ride-thru of Splash Mountain and unless I was familiar with the book that it was based on, I would have no idea what the story was either. Does Haunted Mansion need a story? I also think that visually the look of Splash Mountain would appeal more to children actually than Tiana's. Again, this is my opinion. I find Tiana 's to have a lush, relaxing cool environment that would be a welcome respite from the crowds and heat at Disneyland. So for me, being of my generation, I'm upset that they replaced Carousel of Progress with America Sings, which eventually closed, which inspired the creation of Splash Mountain to use all of those animatronics they had laying around. So how's that for a perspective?

Sooo. I have some issues with the ride.: 1. I don’t know if people thought this, but I thought she was searching for a “special spice”, as in, a SPICE she was missing that would make the food she was cooking even BETTER which then would 2. cause Facilier to come back, which would 3. Make the song make sense and make everything make sense. But since it didn’t work that way (plus allll the dead space), it doesn’t so this ride is a *no-go/houston, we have a problem* issue for me.

The visuals have improved, although I think it still needs more animatronics in spots. That said, the little bit extra done in the early part of the ride is an improvement. Although I noticed that there doesn't seem to be as much water covering the lift during the uphill sections. Also unfortunately the story presented causes most of the ride to fall flat. The lack of Facilier (and more so Keith David) as a threat is criminal. Yes, I know the ride takes place after the movie, but a quick line of him temporarily coming back with his friends from the other side could iron that out easy. (After all, no serious critic hated Star Tours just because it had a third Death Star.) Instead, the story's targeted age group for the ride dropped by five to ten years while still keeping the big drop at the end - making the targeted age demographic a bit muddled. Some further rework on this can save it, but as is I'm not interested in it.

It looks like the larger Splash mountain set pieces were just covered over. After watching this side by side ride through there are conveniently placed dark spots or large shrubbery in places where Splash scenes have been hidden.

They should've given Tiana her own, original ride in the new expansion. It seems like a disservice to the film. I also didn't understand why they didn't keep any nods to the original ride? It was also in the South and kind of Bayou-ish, especially the steamboat at the end.

i was planning to go this year now next year and was horrified to see splash mountain is reimagined my wife went in 92 but I never got to got to Disney at all until well feb 2025 and to see so many old rides I wanted to visit when I was a kid is a bit of a downer Disney have to realize the attraction is now a Luxury trip for families like mine... its monetized to hell

For the life of me, I don't understand why people are ripping apart this ride. I think it's beautiful. I don't get it. Splash was great, but it's time came to an end, and this is a really nice replacement.

It looks nice in parts, but it lacks any substantial story that a ride with more thrilling elements needs in order to capitalize on them. Because there isn't any narrative reason for the ride to have drops of this size, they just...appear out of nowhere and make no practical sense (why is the shortcut to the party via a 50 foot drop?). It's on par with Tower of Terror not being haunted, Expedition Everest having no yeti, or Dinosaur having neither the carnotaurs or asteroid: the rides still have physical thrills, but...why? It's a thrill ride that completely forgets it's a thrill ride, with a story more appropriate for preschoolers who would be too short to ride it.

Still don't understand the hate! It's the same ride but more colorful. Both stories are pretty lousy but that's to be expected in a theme ride. Music is better on Tianas, but the voice clips are more annoying too. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing?

I mean, like this ride cannot compare to the original nothing can replace the original, but this is a worthy successor will definitely miss the original especially me. It’s one of my all-time favorite Disney rides but the new one I will admit is very epic.

Dude this ride deserved better. It’s not epic at all. It’s a half hearted budget job. It needs more story. If they couldn’t make more animatronics then they should have at least had more screens or projectors and effects. It looks underwhelming and like it should have recycled some of Splash’s “critters”. Especially the frogs.

The Princess and the Frog is one of my favorite movies. It’s heartbreaking because Tiana deserves better than this and there was nothing wrong with Splash Mountain in the first place. Tiana should have had her own ride years ago; not the decaying remains of a beloved ride that never should have been controversial. It’s a pathetic, half hearted attempt at virtue signaling and not giving The Princess and the Frog the respect it deserves. Tiana fans should be offended. I know I am. 😠

Princess and the Frog was a beautmovie with amazing characters and a beautiful story. Now it's reduced to Tiana and Louis going to a party. No story, no suspense no emotional character involvement. Maybe we need Orielntal Land Co taking over control of all parks. Look at the beautiful job of Fantasy Springs. Where is the gorgeous storytelling here? And if all new rides are based on IP with no heart behind it, what are we in for?
