You can't compare money directly converting like that. You have to take into account the cost of living. Here, a 2 bhk apartment is rented for Rs. 15000 per month. So, 60000 is 4 months' worth of rent. 60000 is an entire month's salary for most people. Directly converting it to US dollars won't give you the true sense of how much the actual value is.

Americans and Indians earn the same salary considering the pay scale, in india payscale is usually low and our currency puts a hell different perspective, for example like a chips packet here in india costs: 20 rupees and same will cost around 2 or 1.5 dollars in America which is 120 rupees or so, currency wise americans earn more but relatively its same of you live in your own respective countries

U have to calculate the amount vis a vis the purchasing power parity(ppp) of the people, since the cost of living varies vastly in different countries. It's called THE BIG MAC theory. A big mac burger costs around 5.5 USD in the US,and 240Rs in India. The exchange rate is 1USD=71Rs. But if u equate the price of big mac in both the countries, the actual rate of exchange will be around 3 USD and some change. So u gotta equate the PPP of the countries to get the actual value of exchange. For eg, an indian citizen can have 3 meals in a day with just 100Rs,and that's around 1 dollar snd 30 cents. But someone in the US can't,with a dollar and 30 cents. Cost of living plays a huge role and hence foreign exchange rates cannot be equated to understand the economic situation of a country

If you want a fair comaprision , consider the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) of the Indian Rupee. For example , an article you'd get in the US for a dollar you'd get here for around INR 20. So a bottle of water for Rs 200 comes to about $ 10 ; which if you ask me is quite expensive. Also the ticket prices come to about $3000 for 4 tickets. The exchange rate is not a true reflector of how money works around here.

To help better appreciate the prices in the above video: Rs.60000 is roughly the entire month's salary of a junior doctor or say an experienced high school teacher. A standard 500ml bottle of water costs Rs.10-20. So Rs.200 is ten times the actual price.
