@BradWarren8 Yeah man you just go up with the bike while you're on the gas, keeps your weight back and control the angle of the bike while you're in the air. You probably seem to fly off because the bike is rather heavy and hard to control (which is why I switched from a 400ex to a 250r last year) or you don't have enough control over the bike as you launch. You should be on the throttle as you hit the jump, also make sure you're on the throttle when you land, or else it makes for rough landing

How can you disrespect can am? They have the BEST utility ATVs, winning alot of GNCC Championships with them and with the DS450. John Natalie Jr. and Jeremy Lawson were in the top 5 of many AMA rounds. They just haven't gotten quite into the AMA scene, but a few more years and you'll see them on alot more podiums.

I should have asked what quad would be able to keep up with the CR, with little or no work. I know the 450s are quite a large stretch with the 500. My cousin left his 07 TRX450ER at my house while he's out overseas. It's all stock and nothing compared to the 500. Very fun to ride though. I was looking into the 87' LT500R 'Zilla, or maybe a 'shee. I know the Zilla is stupid fast like my 500 and has much more room for mods than the shee. But the shee' is more common and theres more parts for it.

@jasmith97 What kind of quad is it? +4 axle will make it over 50", my local ATV mx circuit the machine must be under 50", I ran a +2 swing arm on my last bike made it a lot easier to keep the front tires on the ground.

450s - that's the official MX class. 700s (Yamaha Raptor, Kawasaki V, and Honda TRX700XX) are all trail quads.

DirtRider magazine actually did a test between the LT500 and the LT450R. They said they had to VERY heavily mod the 450, just to KEEP UP with the STOCK 500. I think a 450 is outta the question. Meh, I think I'll just go throw my KZ1000 motor into my blown up LT250R frame. I'm sure that will be able to keep up >:D

@hagination922 Lol, the 400 is a very nice for trails and woods and go plenty fast; if you get bored just bore/cam it. ONLY reason to get a 450 is if you are racing. Simple as that.

Only a 2-stroke 500 (like the zilla) or heavily modded banshee, or possibly a heavily modded 450 4-stroke will be able to keep up with a 2-stroke 500 dirtbike...but what you should really be looking at is what is the most fun to ride. If I were looking at buying a quad I wouldnt be looking for just speed; You need to get something that's comfortable for you and your riding style. If you love 2 strokes, then get a zilla or a shee. If you like 4-strokes, get a 450 or 700...simple.

If you mean keep up in a drag race, there's next to nothing in terms of atvs that can. But I'm betting that's not what you mean. In terms of 450's, there just about all the same. The YFZ 450, TRX450, KFX450, KTM 450, and a couple polaris 450-500's are what you're lookin at in terms of "race quads". The 700 series is in general more suited for the trails, like the Raptor 700, honda's ugly 700 quad, etc. Now go do some research for yourself. You should be able to answer your own question.
