Both of them are in very difficult positions. This argument surfaced from both of them being stuck, in a way. Hank is afraid to change what he's always done with perps, wants to get justice for the families. Kevin is affected as a black man and a cop at the same time. He understands Hank's tactics. He gets that. He just wants to go about it differently, because of all the scrutiny the cops are facing right now, and the fact he was being set up by his own brothers in blue from other districts. I think they needed to both come clean and get stuff off their chests during this stressful time.

Look...im African American. The mindset the writer's gave Atwater's character is he has had enough with police brutality. However, as any fan of the show can attest to. For Voights career he only uses the cage on criminals and he only uses the cage when necessary. I am sorry but I have to disagree. I don't know what the solution to this problem is, but violence is not. Every racist police officer think they are doing the right thing; whereby they think that they are saving society, when they use "their methods", whether its police brutality or profiling, that doesn't make it right. What if Hank is wrong, and he breaks limbs to the point that the person's livelihood is ruined, or worse he kills someone? AGAIN, I am not saying I know what the solution to the problem is, BECAUSE I SERIOUSLY DONT. But as much as I respect Hank and his morals, I agree with Atwater here, where you cannot just let police do whatever they deem is right or necessary. And I think it is right of Atwater to question Hank here. Hank may be right most times, but many police men aren't. And we cannot treat Hank one way (ie. encouraging violence), because we have better insight into his morals, and treat all other police men/women another way (ie. hate their violence and brutality). THIS IS MY OPINION!
@RaymondStarkes4 жыл бұрын
@@ashabay8450 You lost me at the beginning with racist cop. I am not speaking qbout any other police officer or detective. I'm speaking about Hank Voight. We have not only seen his methods but we also understand his psyche behind the reasons and circumstances for use of said methods. He doesn't use the cage on just any suspect. He doesnt use it on offenders who have any innocence about them. He has used it on criminals who stay in the system and also criminals who are part of a really heinous crime. So to answer your question. "What if Hank is wrong". I dont have sympathy for a suspect who has a history of battery against others, pedophilia, drug runners or bosses, etc. If Hank was wrong in his interrogation. Then hopefully his method in that moment scared the suspect in the cage into making healthier choices. Atwater knows this. He might not disagree with Hank. But its not about questioning Hank. Because everyone in that unit knows Hanks reasoning. Atwater knows Hank would never use the cage on the innocent. Atwater was so wrapped up in his personal life and who he was being treated, he lost sight of that. I understand why, but he should have known the difference based on their relationship.

You can’t have it both ways. Hank does this because he’s a part of the old guard who would find this acceptable. Problem is that same old guard is coming after Atwater because they find it acceptable. Just because the old way was tolerated doesn’t mean it’s right because the younger generation knows change needs to happen and are willing to speak up for chance. And if you don’t think Hank understands that change needs to happen then why did he change his mind on going after the suspect after the fact?

I agree with Atwater. With camera phones, cops can't even stop a jaywalker without a crowd pulling out their phones.

He could claim Police Brutality. Hank and Intelligence doesn't need or want IA getting involved and the Department doesn't need or want lawsuits. It's what you can prove, not what you know.

What the f...k kind of episode was this. The murderer gets away and it ends with them doing nothing about it. We can add this to the list of episodes nobody should ever watch again.

Upton and Jay always got on my nerves as they would stand up to Voight but go on and bend the rules themselves. I don't remember Atwater bending the rules
