This was a favorite Christmas of mine and I'm glad I found this tape again! This show had everything I long for in today's show and it's sad that we'll probably never get it back with budget cuts and all. But budget cuts shouldn't effect things like dialogue and story ideas. And ATWT is sorely lacking in both these days (years).
I liked last year's Christmas show, I'm not denying it, but sometimes I wish the show...and not just Christmas shows, were more than just plot device after plot device or gimmicks. Tell me a story!..with more than 2-3 people involved...with real dialogue...real characters. I get that soaps are an escape, I've been watching for a few decades now...and I'm not looking for total 'realism' in the stories...just some 'realistic' approaches by the characters would be nice. Heck, after the years we've had, it would be 'fresh and new' lol.
Well, I'm hoping for the best this Christmas on ATWT. But I'm gonna prepare for the "eh" Oh...and despite this mini-rant, they won't stop me from watching ATWT. No matter how hard they try...and I believe they ARE trying. Make what you will of that! lol.

TimsDale4ever, you took the words right out of my mouth! Thankfully we have many classic episodes preserved. I just hope that some aspiring writers in the future will see them and learn from Marland's example, and put it to use on another soap, or other program. I know there are some writers who understand the potential of great storytelling on soaps, and they understand that there are many intelligent viewers who appreciate QUALITY over flashiness.

I can’t believe it, leaving Bianca (Karina Arroyave) out of the complete cast, including recurring, not just for the previous week, but, the entire year (which was how the credit crawl was every year during the Christmas episode). Or at least credit her temporary replacement (previously seen during Holden and Lily’s first wedding), Chris Langner.

@jakevanfan I actually sent an e-mail to Proctor & Gamble just a few weeks ago asking that. They said that most tapes hadn't been converted to CD's, but that they would definitely consider it! Maybe if several people ask, they will!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this where Chris Cross’ The Best Christmas originated? I remember first hearing it during the Holidays on local radio stations during the mid-to-late 1990s and finally found it in 1997 on a CD, The Best of the Stars Ckme Out for Christmas.

That would be so awesome to have a DVD and/or Blu-Ray release of the series including box sets of various time periods! In addition, to include bonus materials, such as present day interviews with the casts, audio commentaries, and more! Also, it would be so neat to have a follow-up, updated revival of the series, either daytime or prime time, even if short-lived or in a mini-series format!

Didn't you though, callye? I recorded and watched daily. I would rewind and watch that day's episode at night. It was usually the last thing I did before going to bed - a daily treat. The show was sweet and interesting and lovely. I miss those days so much. Today, I watch about 10 episodes a YEAR and I can barely get through them - so boring! Usually I'm depressed afterwards at how bad this powerhouse has become over the last 10 years. When the focus moved to kids the show lost its way.

TimsDale4ever when Telenext took over those final three years, this show tanked. Unfortunately it wasn't hard to see why ATWT got cancelled soon after.

Plus, the cast and crew, including Don Hastings and Eileen Fulton, were ready to retire (especially Hastings, Fulton, Kathy Hays, Kathy Widdoes, Liz Hubbard, Marie Masters, Larry Bryggman, Colleen Zenk after 32 years, Scott Holmes after 23 years, et al), take a break, get on with their real family lives, and pursue other projects (especially the younger cast and those whose contacts had only been a few years or so).
