Partial Video Transcript:
"Today's goal is to save your life.
We're going to do that by talking about the A/B/C/D/Es of melanoma, and these A/B/C/D/Es of melanoma are also appropriate for the concept of atypical mole. Your local dermatologist wants your help in finding these lesions before we do. So if you're looking your body over once a month in the mirror noticing if anything is new, anything is changing, anything is growing, anything simply will not heal or fulfills these A/B/C/D/Es criteria, we want you to schedule an appointment with your local dermatologist as soon as possible. We want to find things early. We want to treat them, and we want them not to affect your life..."

Great video. None of the other videos ever, ever tell you that you only need ONE of those ABCDEs to suspect melanoma.

Thank you. Very nicely explained. Very nice slides. I loved it. Do lessions come in ones only, or can they come several at a time on the same area?

There is no rhyme or reason to when they start to change. I have many patients who only have one concerning mole at a time and others who have multiple moles that are concerning.

@@DoctorpediaYT Thank you so much. It's very kind of you. Is it typical that they all appear at the same time on the same area at 80+ years of age underneath the bossoms, be all asymetrical, and some be bigger than 0.6 cm?

I have this one mole and when I look at it I can clearly see it protruding but there is also color on the flat area around it. Is this like a mole on a freckle/surrounded by freckles or does this apply to the border category?

Is there any info on Colorless moles? Like flat moles flush with skin surface that match your skin pigment thus they are not dark or brown? I have noticed two of them on my legs I am a brown skinned person and I always wear thick pants thus I know these moles should not have anything to do with sun radiation. I tried looking up clear moles but diff results come about about removing moles. I appreciate anyone's feedback as to if this should be a concern & if I should get them checked out. Thank you!

this is a year old but if you're still here, you should probably get it checked out, especially if it's changing in size or feels hard. that could be a tumor, though I'm not very informed about this

should a genuine mole be removed if it has not changed for decades ? ( for the last 3 decades I no longer allow the sun to hit my face) it easily meets the criteria of a mole shape size colour etc. thank you this page should have more comments. d.s.

If it has not changed in 3 decades chances are that it does not need to be biopsied. However, I am about to walk into a room to cut out a melanoma (bad skin cancer) on a man's face that he was convinced had not changed in over 40 years. I talked him into a biopsy and glad I did. So, still get a mole checked out and if it has not changed from your opinion and the Dermatologist does not think it is a problem then a biopsy is probably not needed. Just monitor it for change.

A lot of what causes atypical moles is related to your genetics - something you can't do much about currently. But, you can stay out of the sun and that can help.
