This wasn’t a millionaires race. This was a upper middle-class race when America was dominated by the middle class. this is when the gap between the haves, and the have Nots was workable. Unlike the gap we have today between the haves, and the have Nots that isn’t sustainable.

I remember visiting Wolfsburg while they were making the Bug. I bet the guys in those dark, stinking, deafening sheds never dreamt the cars they were making would achieve this, but I also bet it would have brought a smile to their eyes if they knew.

I drag raced VWs in the 90s thru early 2000s. Still have my 1965 Beetle I bought in 1986 at the age of 16. Anyone know who sells a class 11 car? Project would be fine. The baja area is awesome. Great video on the history of off road racing and how the VW played an important role and still is alive today!

I couldn't love this more. You guys really captured the essence of the beetle and what it is to love them. I've been beetle free for a the last few years and I didn't realise what was missing until I rolled another one into my garage for a resto. Walking into the workshop every day to see its smiling "face" looking at me brings a joy thats unexplainable. The essence of motoring that you find when behind the wheel of a beetle is so sadly missing in todays cars its actually sad. The irony of the evil that created the VW beetle that is now the source of universal love and freedom just adds so much more to its story. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in making this film.

Please don't yell at me back in the mid eighties I had a 67 Baja bug street legal in Canada it became a bush bug very quickly , after destroying that one I traded a guy for a 52 split window 6 Volt bug but it couldn't be registered so I went to a local bug shop and tried to buy a Baja kit for a 52 split window and the owner of the shop threw me out and said never come back , so I ended cutting up that mint 52 and it became a bush buggy too , lasted couple of months the rolled it and it was totalled , looking back I sure do miss my Bugs

Great work on a great story! My first four cars were Baja Bugs, followed by a Baja Squareback... I graduated from skateboards and BMX to Bajas when I was just a kid. I learned so much about VWs and cars and engineering in general from all the stuff I broke and fixed on those Bajas. I'm still a builder and tinkerer today at 57 from those experiences. Terrific work on this movie, you captured so much of the scene in your piece... Bravo!! 💪❤️👍
