I think my interpretation for this music video is about Au/Ra's literal fears running around and dancing around her, slowly increasing in numbers as it clouds over. She stands in the middle, singing the song to further imply that she is trying to console herself with her fears. This can be shown in the video where she is the only person in the music video with a white outfit, while the others wear black outfits. The people in black outfits seemed to begin to circle around her, staring her every move, while she stands motionless. This could be an illustration of people experiencing so many fears and insecurities at the same time without anyone noticing, as it is in the mind most of the time. I think in the end, that's where Au/Ra really became part of the fear that she was surrounded in the beginning. The song could be shown to be just a (pep-talk?) or motivational talk to calm the fears down, but it evidently fails as she whispers in the end, signalling that the thought is slowly fading and disappearing. In the end, she accepts her fears as part of her, and she now dances with her fears, accepting herself in the process, hence dancing in the dark. okay this might not be true but anyone reading this have a good day regardless :)

Okay I haven’t seen a comment like this yet so imma say this. She starts out in all white around a bunch of people in all black. They’re all hurting, and she’s like a beacon of light. She helps them through their problems and offers a helping hand. At the end, however, you see through the “perfect facade” she puts on and see that she’s hurting too. Moral of the video, everyone has fears. Everyone’s hurting. Even the happiest people have problems, so be kind. Edit 1: Spelling and grammar corrections

ive been noticing something about melanie, au/ra, and my all time fav billie. Their age alone is insane but thats besides the point, there style, themes, voices, meanings, imagery, it's all too familiar but i know i haven't seen anything in specific to have this familiarity. I dont even know if I did, or could ever, convey this concept that I don't even fully get. its omniversal, its the past, present and future, its the concept deja vu fails to fully manifest in it's definition. I get the 'dark theme, halloween aesthetic' could explain this familiarity but its deeper than that

@@laith0807 Occasionally when I listen to a new song which is particularly catchy, I listen to it for a few hours straight. The next day when I next listen to it I find it really familiar. It just happened so much that I started looking out to see if it happened and it does, my brain seems to think if I've listened to it several hundred times I must've known it for ages and heard it before when I really haven't. Brains are too weird for me. Glad I don't have one :)

@@chadradicchio1576 ahahahaha I don't have one either. Jk nah i love my brain because problems to solve like this familiarity wouldnt exist without it but also i get what you mean by the brain giving familiarity to something. I can find anything familiar its just a matter of which are actually familiar and which have been given such a meaning by my brain. Its almost the same as developing an attachment to an inanimate object but instead its developing a non-existing familiarity.

Music truly is an art that can be interpreted in many ways. To me the people in black symbolize darkness. Note how the first sign of darkness is aggressive, intimidating. It all adds up more darkness surrounds her however she remains calm, handles the situation gracefully tamed her darkness and made it past the dark times dispite it becoming a part of her in the end. We never forget our dark times however we can choose to let it destroy us or just dance in the dark.
