I’ll never forget 6 year old me getting to get a high 5 from Cam Newton in the Tiger Walk against Clemson. I remember this was my first season as an Auburn fan and it was awesome. Looking back now as a freshman on the plains, I can only look back to this season and just smile. Maybe before my time is done at Auburn, me and the rest of the Auburn family will get to experience this again.

Cam is ridiculous; we may never see something like him again in the NFL; a true dual threat who can actually execute an intricate NFL passing offense; YET, runs between the tackles. Cam is THE ONLY QB in the NFL who runs Power with Guards Lead Blocking; yet is called weak and soft after he hesitates to dive into ONE pile in the SB. The ignorant tools (who don't actually watch 3-4 games a week and All-22 like I do) call him a pussy, they don't know football haven't seen Panthers games from 2011-present. He's THE toughest QB; show me a single NFL QB who runs behind 300 lb lead blockers at the GOAL line??? In a Superbowl fumble pile up they'll be trying to snap his fingers, he was coached to not dive in, because you can see he was about to dive and hesitated. Plus his 2014 Season of pain was ridiculous. The guy has all his wisdom teeth pulled; a dozen nicks, a near fatal auto accident and misses ONE week.
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing7 жыл бұрын
I miss this offense; Smashmouth Spread; I started liking Auburn the same time I noticed College Football; 2013 Ohio State and Auburn's Offense is what made me start watching College ball after the NFL season ends. It doesn't work without a QB who can threaten deep; keep the Secondary from crowding the Run game.

Tom Payne If it was just Cam then why was Nick Fairley the Lombardi winner? And true, this Auburn team didn’t have the typical NFL loaded lineup even the 2004 team had, but you can’t go by the next year’s results considering they only returned 6 starters total in 2011 after 24 seniors plus Cam and Fairley left.

2004 and 2010 only two times that Auburn went undefeated 14-0 in 2004 and 13-0 in 2010 and won the National Championship that same year would have been two National titles if the refs against Florida State would not have called a nonexistent pass inference in the Auburn defense which lead to the game winning Florida State touchdown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad that two years after Auburn won the 2010 National Championship that Newton went into the NFL not long after they won the National title and the tigers went winless in SEC play in 2012 and Gene gets fired as the Auburn head coach and a year later in 2013 Auburn and Nick Marshal go back to the SEC championship and win it and nearly win the 2013 National Championship in early 2014. Oh and by the way the Auburn head coach then same guy who is still head coach now at Auburn Gus Malzhan.

Part of what made this team fascinating was how mediocre it actually was besides Cam and Fairley. A 6-6 team at best without them.
@rscotta8315 жыл бұрын
Completely disagreed. Barrett Trotter led the 2011 team to 8 wins, void of the THIRTY SEVEN players it lost from the 2010 National Championship team. Trotter would have easily led the 2010 team to at least 9 wins. Yes, Clemson would have been a probability of a loss given how poorly the offense played, but then again, other than the long bomb to T-Zach, Cam didn’t wow in that game, so not a guaranteed loss. LSU game the more likely loss given LSU was ranked #1 against the run and Cam absolutely obliterated their run defense. With LSU’s monster secondary of Peterson, Claiborne and Honey Badger, I don’t believe Trotter would have led the team to a win. The only other loss would have been against Alabama given their 24-point outburst in the 1st half. So at best, 10 regular season wins. At worst, 9 wins. There simply wasn’t another team that could have beaten a Trotter-led 2010 team. Simply too much Senior talent and leadership.

You're right. Would have been 1st & G at the 3. Still would have had to score a TD and the AU run defense was #9 in the Nation in YPG. Plus they were much better in 2nd halves than 1st halves. As I've notes many times over the years, this was the closest AU came to losing all season.
