WOW! A deeply moving and brilliant speech, backed up by superb imagery, music and editing. Greetings from Sydney, I really enjoyed my time at the school in 1972 and part of 73. I really wish I could have stayed longer to further my education, but alas my father and family had to return to Oz. I'm looking now at a book, awarded to me in December 1972 as a prize for ART. There is a book plate in it with the school logo, some beautiful hand lettering etc with the then headmasters signature Henry Cooper CBE, MA. I look back very fondly on those years. Greetings to my fellow class mates in third form 1972 - Mark Nelson

Loved this school deeply. I entered Feb '60 and left Dec '64 in the upper 6th, not for University but to T.E.A.L later Air New Zealand. I last met Henry Cooper in an antique shop in Parnell late '60s where I had just found and purchased a lithograph of the school done in 1915. It featured the lower ground (taken by eminent domain for the motorway), the library, and war memorial with the main building looming in the background. I am in the process of donating it to the school. Such fond memories of a great education. "PER ANGUSTA AD AUGUSTA". Kia ora! Kia kaha!

Teachers at Grammar are allowed to use offensive language such as Shut Up. Does exams really teach students life skills, like getting jobs.
@lorzah27724 жыл бұрын
How is it offensive language? It’s only necessary to use when the students won’t be quiet and won’t behave. Sure people can perform well outside of school but examinations help develop skills under stress, memory and how to develop good habits when studying. It certainly helps if you are going to university and you want to earn a degree.

If someone’s telling you to shut up, you probably need to be quiet. Just a thought.

Worst 4 years of my life. I did not learn anything while I was at Grammar. Auckland Grammar doesn't teach any life skills e.g. getting jobs, talking to people
