Many people have bought the Black Panther AP and in fact, I think it's sold out and with those in the grey market have a skyhigh resale price tag to match. The truth is there is a market for these watches no matter how old school collectors loath them and AP is catering to it. Those who buy them may not be the usual crowd of watch collectors but celebs/very rich people that buy them as toys. It's not much different from us buying a chunky Gshock Casio for fun.

I agree with your opinion, these are watches that adults would be embarrassed to wear. However, these brands don't make watches to be worn, they are for collectors to hoard and show off to visitors, the higher the price and lower production number, the more they want it. Have you seen the the Alyx chronograph Royal Oak without any markings on the three subdials? 🤣🤣🤣

1:36 that's not a Royal Oak Offshore in the pic, and the Offshore wasn't designed by Gerald Genta. That being said, AP have become a one trick pony with over 75% of their models being Royal Oaks or Royal Oak offshoots. They no longer deserve their place in the Holy Trinity, and haven't done for some time. Also, while the Holy Trinity do great finishing, it's not the best in the business. Both AP and PP cut corners, especially with their lower end pieces, using mostly machine finishing with some hand finishing at the end. It's only their really high-end pieces that get the full hand finishing touch. In comparison, VC does give more hand finishing throughout the range, although it's supplemented with machine finishing too. But none of the Holy Trinity are as good as Lange for finishing, and they're nowhere near the levels of Gruebel Forsey or Moritz Grossman.

I agree with your criticisms of their collaborations. But I think it’s not just a cash grab (although it is that too) - it’s a necessity because, for whatever reason, they’ve lost the in-house design chops to bring a successful new model to market so they crank out endless variations of their one big success (the Royal Oak). The Code 11:59 was a disaster.

Perfect explanation. Thanks for showing us the Spiderman one. Invicta released a similar one before AP. They don’t care about the 0.5% watch enthusiasts customers. If they keep releasing models for super rich people and money laundry they will be ok. While they artificially push the prices up and play the shortage game that they learnt from Rolex, they will be “successful”.

If u opt for ROO 3126 enhancement, AP will reduce 59jewel to 54jewel, the watch gets lighter, the min hand jump everytime u adjust the time.

I do like the rendering so far. Especially the blue, and the vintage one. The only thing that I am afraid of is it going to be extremely low quality like the moonswatch, but in the end. I’ll probably pick one up.

@@jimmylight4866 Richard Mille began only looking at the highest end Watches with marketing. They cornered the market hard, had celebrity endorsements and sports endorsements immediately. You got people like Post Malone spending a million on the Skull. And the they are slowly dropping, but then the entire market is done 20-30%. I think they will always be a niche in the market, so it’s hard to predict
