I couldn’t disagree with you any more lol! I’ve never heard the lcd2c or originals. But I was at the store and was able to demo the lcd-x, lcd-xc, and the lcd2closed. The LCD2closed fits my preferred listening profile almost exact! No mud, so much space between the instruments, silky/creamy, fast, with much transient detail but without sounding harsh. The x’s had super exaggerated mids that side by side they felt almost wrong. I ended up buying the lcd2closed. I’ve had them for about a week and I’ve gone back to listen to my whole catalog for hours just drooling. And I’m no noob to speakers or sound. I’m a mixing and mastering engineer 17 years deep. Maybe that’s what you meant about “clinical” although I wouldn’t classify these as linear, the high mids are very present. So anyway, your comment about the Monoprice 1060c got me curious. So I ordered a pair. And I gotta say, for the money they sound absolutely great. But there is no comparison. Sure the bass at 100hz is a little more pronounced and lightly thicker low mids. But that’s about it. They have higher distortion which makes them sound a little flabby/mushy in the mids. They don’t have as much separation between instruments and they most certainly don’t have that creamy Audeze sheen. Overall I would say they are distant cousins. With the lcd2closed I get lost in the music for hours, they take me on a ride, with the 1060c’s they sound good but after about 15min I’m done. Probably will send them back. Thinking of checking out the LCD-2c’s. Anyway, everyone hears different and has a right to their tastes. these are my two cents. I appreciate you making this review. Peace! 🤘😎

Good Lord! These were y first AUDEZE headphones ever, and I thought I was crazy because, I too was underwhelmed. I happened to own the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7s at the same time as these, and I also couldn't justify the $600+ difference in price between the two (Which is crazy because the MSR7s are dynamic driver-type headphones). I'll probably give the AUDEZE LCD 2 C a try You seem to love them to bits. Great review !!

I've got 12+ sets of quality HPs, from several Sennheiser (HD M, HD700, 414, etc) to (AKG 712PRO) , HIFIMAN (400S), OPPO (PM3) , Massdrop Purpleheart, Phillips X2, several closed custom HPs I built. I find myself going back to OPPO PM3 over the years. Since PM3s are 3+ years old, you don't find newer comparisons to them. Anyone care to comment their experiences with these Audeze closed with PM3s and/or PM3s to (open I know) the hifiman Sundara & Audeze LCD2C? Good video. Just subscribed.

This is very disappointing, considering how much I love my LCD-2. This helps narrow down my choice to ZMF Eikon as a closed back companion to my LCD-2. Great reviews Damir, I look forward to many more from you!

I had the chance to audition the closed back lcd 2 and I have to agree w your review especially the part where you mention lacking of character. I would think of it as a balance sound signature where it’s not bright on the high comparing to the LCD-2 classic. And it’s not bassy either. Sound imaging is ok too.

I respectfully disagree. I've had my LCD2 Closed for more than a month now and I find them very enjoyable. Yes, I prefer the LCD MX4s, but they are 3x the price. When I need to go to a closed format, I haven't found anything as satisfying as the LCD2 Closed. Amazing bass impact and great overall sound.

Have you tried switching the earpads between the two LCD models just to see what it does or is it not allowed since it's a review unit? It's kinda bonkers that to get the feeling back of LCD2 C earpads it would probably cost you the same as buying the Jubilee 58x lol.

Great, insightful review again! Audeze closed backs look ridiculous on your head even if it's for home/studio listening only. To carry them around on trips, they are very unwieldy too. For my taste, Audeze sound great but I personally love the Beyerdynamic DT-1990's more than any of those. I do combine them with Sonarworks, which makes them virtually perfect.
@TheNitpicker

That's personal preference, I for example don't like the 1990 at all for listening to music
@tremot7143
@tremot7143 6 жыл бұрын
@@TheNitpicker Exactly, too each his own. I find the DT-1990 a little too unforgiving for relaxed listening too. But for production and criticial listening none come close to its overall performance.

Would be nice if you can try some hifimans , like the HE1000 and compare it to similar headphones in that price and more also the HE400i which is a good affordable planar set and compare it to the monoprice and lcd2. i do like that you do not go the route of measurements which many do just to look professional or whatever, it all comes down to how do they sound and your overall experience, also important is a description of what kind of sound YOU like and what the headphones is doing for you in that area and in what music they excel . thanks a lot for your work.

At 2:20 you started talking about how you made the headband of the LCD2C smaller so it doesn't touch the metal anymore. Did you just drill extra holes in the leather band for the screws that hold it? Asking because I am having the same issue now.
@TheNitpicker
@TheNitpicker 5 жыл бұрын
No I just meant I used a smaller setting of the headband, I also didn't mean because of the metal, just because the earcups were too low, setting it smaller got the job done
