So needed this video, as replacing with camera handle trim. Can the handle trim come out with the numberplate still in place, or does removing the numberplate make it easier?
@SelectVehicleSpares3 жыл бұрын
As long as it isn't in the way there is no need to remove it. Ours had a large number plate holder/surround so we had to remove it to make space for the trim to get past.

One of my registration plate lights doesn't work and I replaced with a new bulb and it still doesn't work--I have power coming to the terminals in the boot so maybe the terminals on the bulb holder are misaligned and not making contact--in any event an investigation needed as it is an advisory on our Nct (car test). Good video.

Hi did you end up fixing it? I have a similar problem and need some advice.
@bmw-e302 жыл бұрын
@@shaykh_Mahboob Yes, I did at least for the moment. The connector was damaged by the rear wiper motor actually melting the rear of the connector as it burned out. These rear wiper motors are dangerous as they can overheat if the blade sticks to the window and actually cause a fire. Luckily enough, mine just melted part of the motor and fizzled out but not before doing some damage to the tailgate and reg plate assembly..Check to see if you have power at the reg plate connector with your lights on--if you have it should work. Mine was intermittent because of the damage.

@@bmw-e30 the right side works but the left has a reverse camera connected that has a built in led. The previous camera had the built in led burnt out so I bought the same model reverse camera and fit the new one. But the led light from the new one doesn't work. The reverse camera works fine but not the led. Do you think it could be a fault code?
@bmw-e302 жыл бұрын
@@shaykh_Mahboob I assume that is an aftermarket set up install and would not be setting a fault code . Unless your new camera is faulty and I assume again that you cannot just replace the led bulb otherwise you would have done that with your old camera. I am not sure how this is set up as it would appear that one of your no. plate bulbs is a halogen and the aftermarket an led. In any event if a bulb doesn't work and it's good you have an issue with power or earth going to it.

Where do you find the boot tailgate sensor that indicates whether the tailgate is "closed or open"? Mine has failed on my 2006 A3, and I'm having no luck finding info on the part #, or location under the trim.

Cabriolet has a keyed lock above handle, how do I remove this part?
@virveli113 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for this video, it might come in handy for me. I own a -09 A3 8P and I recently got a warning light on my dash that the register plate lights are gone. I changed the bulbs around 6 months ago so I thought the bulbs can't be gone so soon. I took the lights out and the bulbs looked like they were in really good shape. I was wondering if this part could be the issue? I'm doing more testing with a multimeter tomorrow to see if there's electricity going to the tailgate switch handle (the boot still opens normally by the handle, so I think it has to be a failure in contact surfaces that the register plate lights go to) I don't know the actual name for the handle part + I live in Finland so I haven't found this part online yet. I was wondering if you knew the serial number for the part that you removed, It would really help me in finding this part if I have to go and change it. Do you recon there could be something else wrong that would cause the register plate lights not to work but the handle to open the boot is still working fine? Thank you so much for the video!

I think I found the part number. It's 8P4 827 574 3FZ right?

@@virveli11 Yes, that looks to be the correct part number.

Din you fix the problem by replacind the whole unit? My left number plate light keeps blowing every few days.
My boot door opens intermittently, more times it doesn't than it does, even with the remote. Would it be the switch or the motor?
@SelectVehicleSpares10 ай бұрын
Difficult so say without diagnosing, but sounds like it could be the lock/motor.

Nice vídeo, perfectly and clearly done. These 8P'S licence plate lights overheat once in a while and the support of the lights bulb which are made of plastic starts to melt and the whole thing stop functioning . The way to go is to buy a new one and put it on! PN 8P48275743FZ

I think this is what's happened to me. My licence plate lights don't work so I replaced the bulbs to no avail. I then checked the contacts inside the boot lid handle where the bulb holders connect to, and on both sides 1 out of 2 connectors look totally melted. So tomorrow I'm buying a new boot lid handle and am going to have to endure performing this task with a boot that doesn't stay open 😢
