You done me in Gunny---I'm in retirement, got bored and stumbled on your videos one night and got a paint fever again after 40 years. All of your recommendations have been spot on. Been painting for over 35 yrs. and have painted thousands of cars.Worked at a chevy dealership when G.M. had the paint recalls.Have never had a run.I don't get runs.I get flow indicators.Seriusly though always used devilbuss and always had good luck with them.We also used sikens paint and loved it.It had the best color matches and working at a dealership had to have perfect matches.

Great Job GUNNY! Any tips on the devilbiss starting line gun? I have "tee-d" two compressors together, according to the compressor's information regarding CFM and I should have a combined CFM to be at around 9.9.... I have two Iwatas W-400; a W-400-132G with a 1.3 tip and a W-400-142G with a 1.4 tip.... both require exactly 9.9 CFM at 40 psi. Am I cutting it a little too close guys? I have mimicked painting a broad side, (but I need to start the job at about 2.75 bars so that when the psi dips, its is maintained at the recommended 2 bars (when the compressors kicks in).....Can I get away with starting at 2.75 bars?

hey gunman, nice quick vid.... a question if i may.... the vw/audi group basic colours i.e the flat blacks, whites and reds look like they have the worst orange peel finish straight from the factory..... how do you deal with that when doing a repair as obviously yr as a painter yr trying to get the best finish poss, but its not inkeeping with the rest of the car..... my daughter has a new basic black polo and personally i'd like to block and mop it all over to improve the finish as they really are that bad

Another awesome video Gunman, recently brought a project lupo which i want to respray before dropping a 1.8T in it so have been watching all your videos, trying to get as much info on what i need to do. I have a couple of quick questions if you dont mind. I will be colour changing from black to grey, as far as door/boot/bonnet jams do i spray them, clear coat then do the outside of the car or do i just spray them grey, spray the outside then clear coat it all to stop any lines? Also, can i get away with smoothing the original paint off with 400 grit and only priming damaged areas or should i just prime the whole car? Thankyou mate, videos are awesome and we all appreciate them!

Hey gunny, do you wipe them down with the waterborne cleaner before or after the wax and grease remover? Cheers.
@TheGunmanChannel7 жыл бұрын
+mactoe1 I'm using solvent so I only use the waterborne cleaner prior to prep as a panel cleaner. But if spraying water then use the water cleaner last.
@mactoe17 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. I'm spraying Standox solvent and the reason I ask is because I've noticed in the past when I wipe them down with just wax and grease remover that sometimes I would still see marks from fingers and such that the wax and grease remover didn't remove. So as a rule, I use the waterborne cleaner 1st, then the wax and grease remover and haven't had a single issue since. Can't keep an eye on my preppers every move and he doesn't always keep his mits off the panels. Anyway, love the videos brotha! Keep em coming! You're the man with the plan, just ask Stan.
