This was a well done video. Following the video I was able to install my interface. I wish the customer Service from cars gadgets was just a good.

Took me a day but finally worked. Initially had no sound, so make sure to select external source first then long press NAV, otherwise the system will keep on trying to play from the old MMI. So far so good.

Great video! Everything is working, but I can't get the MMI unit back in with all the new cables and quadlock connector. Do you have any specific tip to help with this? Thanks in advance

same issue here !!!! looking for tips

@@andregiroux4282 I managed to do it after 2 days and almost loosing my head. From all that I read, what worked for me was to cut some of the elastic tape that wraps the car cables in the thick harness. This allows to free the cables as the big problem is the thick harness that has no flexibility and prevents the MMI unit to slide all the way to the end. After freeing the cables as much as needed, I arranged them so that the quadlock connector would be on the left hand side and slide it to the end where there is a hole that allows to place it underneath the MMI unit. Since the cables will be a lot more free, the quadlock connector can be placed there even before connecting the rest of the cables to the unit (having small hands will help with this). If the cables are well arranged, the unit will slide to its place without even forcing it. Good luck with this endeavor, I almost quitted in desperation, but the final result is great!

@@toscano88 OMG thank you for this !!! funny enough I had started to cut that weird slippery tape to be able to move around the big sturdy quadlock wiring but stoped as it exposed wires, but I will keep going ! so left hand side, bottom/under the MMI....thanks for this, will keep you posted here. I even broke a wire off the connector in trying to do this as I probably was too violent with the wires !!!!! just a scissor I guess ?
@andregiroux4282 Жыл бұрын
@@toscano88 also you mean cutting the tape from the harness coming from the car ? the unit's Y cable ? both ?
@toscano88 Жыл бұрын
Yes, a simple scissor will do the work, but be careful not to cut any cable its rubber to avoid exposing the wires inside. I'm not sure about the Y cable you mention, but I guess the rubber tape can be cut from any cable you want to free.

Great video. Will your kit work the same with a RHD A8L? Obviously some steps will be on the opposite side.
@CarsGadget2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will work, everything is the same steps. In the settings menu you may also change the layout for icons for RHD.

Only 2012 Audi A8 what about 2011 Audi A8
@CarsGadget3 жыл бұрын
Not only 2012. It works on 2011 as well, as long as you have the same dash and AMI/AUX connector in the armrest.

What about 2011 audi a8
@CarsGadget11 ай бұрын
it works with 2011-2017 Audi with 3GMMI radio. As long as your 2011 A8 has an AUX-IN or AMI slot in the armrest.
