Wrong. I have faith and will root for Binotto. Mick can't outperform the current f1 drivers about his age. He crashed way too many times and cost Haas $millions. With the Schumacher name and to be cut by Haas tells you all about his stats. I do not say that as an insult to Mick the person. He seems a great, well-mannered kid, and for that, he has my respect. As a Ferrari fan, I was always confused why Ferrari announced that they would drop Binotto during one of their best seasons since he took over. I genuinely haven't seen much of a change in Ferrari's quality since Vassuer took over--their major weaknesses are still strategy and development, as it was during Binotto's tenure. I think this is a huge W for Audi, even moreso because Binotto is coming into his area of expertise. I'm now watching Audi a lot more closely than I was.

I read on a big German website that Hoffman was only meant as an overseer of the project, someone Seidl would regularly report to, nothing more. Hoffman quickly realized how much clout F1 brought tho and wanted more say in the team. He started to interfere more and more with Seidls decisions and even blocked certain hires or extensions for infrastructure etc. It basically became a war for power within the team between the two. Sad to see, I always liked Seidl...

@WhiteG604 ай бұрын
Part of what did Binotto in was his unwillingness to throw his employees under the bus publicly. There were mistakes, yes, but he was charged with changing the culture of fear in the Scuderia. You don't do that by firing people when they take risks and it doesn't work out, or make mistakes. All that would do is make people be conservative and not willing to roll the dice. We don't know that things weren't handled in private. That's what a good manager and leader does. Praise publicly, admonish privately. But when mistakes are made and no blood sacrifice is made in the press, the Tifosi got uneasy and the Ferrari execs got uneasy. They want names. They want action. They want punishment. Binotto is a good manager that did good manager things, but wasn't given time to reap the rewards of the dirty work. Fred is getting the benefits of Binotto's work, IMO.

If his prior experience leading the engine department at Ferrari can help Audi develop a good engine for 2026, we may see ourselves the epic revival of the Mercedes-Auto Union rivalry of old. Hearings are set to be held on the The Hill between the House, the Senate, and FOM and LM, and I can't imagine that being raked across the coals of Congress will be painless. Then there's the DOJ and FTC, that I suspect are quietly on a fact finding mission to establish probable cause for a grand jury. If the grand jury deems there is probable cause, then expect a more formal lawsuit to be brought forward. And that's when the real fireworks will explode. All-in-all, this whole affair reeks of something more than a simple rejection of an up-and-coming team, or even an anti-trust case. If I'm Toto, I put Mick in the 2nd Merc for 2025 and have Kimi stay in F2 another year (assuming he doesn't win the championship this year somehow). What do you really have to lose? If Mick is bad? It's a one year deal and he's out for 2026 with Kimi taking the seat. If he's REALLY good? George's contract is up after next year, so you put Kimi in that seat and roll with Kimi and Mick for 2026. I have a feeling Mick isn't going to hold for for a multi-year commitment and you could even do a 1 + 1 based on performance triggers. The 2nd year becomes guaranteed if you finish in the top 5 in the WDC and Mercedes is in the top 3 in the constructors or something silly like that because, if the team achieves that, why wouldn't you keep him?

I see a dark future for the Audi team if they keep interfering and I think they will. I wondered why Sainz didnt sign with Audi but maybe he saw this coming
