AUDI LEGENDS Ep2: AUDI RS6 C5 AVANT - So much ahead of its time - First gen of the car we love

Okay folks. Here comes a super duper special one. I told you I’m gonna bring some special Audis to the channel this year. This one hits one right in the feels. My next star in my ”Audi Legends” series is the absolutely gorgeous and mint icon, the Audi RS6 C5 Avant. This is a car with so much soul, and has a special place in many Audi and automotive fans around the world. I hope also that I will teach some young Audi fans about the history and heritage of the four rings.
Let me first tell you, that the so cool owner of this car, actually is connected to my own RS4 B5 Avant in a special way. When he was looking to buy a newer RS a few years ago, he came across my ”Living with your ultimate dreamcar - Audi RS4 B5 Avant” video here on KZbin. After seeing that, he was so taken by the way I talked about an ”old” car, with such a huge passion and the story behind it, he started himself thinking of maybe getting an older RS. That changed his mind, and the way of thinking, that older cars just have so much more soul. I bet he can write his story down here in the comments in a better way, but for me personally it’s the best compliment I can get, when a person says that he owns a car because of me.

This tears me up, knowing that these cars are going extinct... lets enjoy the combustion engines till the fullest. The day the last petrol powered car rolls out of the factory will be a day of sadness for me. I’ll probably get depressed, because cars are one of the very few things that bring me joy in life. did you know that Henry Ford wife drived an electric car almost 100 years ago. the lobby of the petrol and industrial revolution and greed of money found their way into the modern car we know today, which should have ever been electric in the first place. very sad

Great video. This RS6 Avant is just wow. I have an '05 B6 (pre face lift) S4 Avant that I'm bringing back to life. Previous owners ran her into the ground. I love her too damn much to let her go. As many below said, these cars are slowly fading away. I personally think they look better than the new S and RS models. I like the smooth lines of the older models.

Stage one remap took mine up to 535bhp. Absolute animal. Pulled past a 2017 M5 at around 170MPH and also pulled on a C63s

I have owned four Audi's (200 Quattro, A8, A8, S8) and this RS6 Avant is one that I wanted to buy. Unfortunately it was never exported to the U.S., but more recently you can buy it here. With a more modern transmission it would likely drop a full second 1-100 km as that tiptronic shifts slowly.

Idk what is it about the C5 generation but the RS and S models just have this timeless look to them. Even compared to the latest gen RS6 the C5 looks good. Somehow the proportions are so right. And the fact it's so discrete... i love it. And yes, the old gens have something like a soul which you can almost feel while driving them. However if one day i get my hands on a C5 RS6 i would swap the transmission for 6-speed manual one and remove the DRC system from the suspension. These are the only 2 flaws this car has. Without them it's the perfect estate car one could ask for.
