Audi R8 BATTERY REPLACEMENT DIY! (THE EASY WAY)

I show you how to replace the battery in the first-generation Audi R8. This applies to both the V8 and V10 from 2008 to 2012. The battery on my 2008 Audi R8 V8 died and I needed a replacement. I show you the step-by-step process of how to replace the battery without having to take the cowling and wiper blades off to make this complicated procedure a little bit easier.
Battery Replacement: Energizer Batteries Group H6-AGM Automotive Battery
You can also go with the H9 battery, it seems you can go for either version where the H9 is bigger and provides more power. I went with the H6 from Costco as it works and I have a Costco warranty of 5 years to back it up.

When the battery is underneath the subframe 😅 It isn't so simple but what did you expect! The official way to do this is even more complicated and requires removing the wipers!

Yes, you need to remove wipers and disconnect hood stand-offs if you want to take off the entire plastic thing; there's the brake fluid reservoir beneath it.

Dang, its already been 5 years?! I'm really not good at keeping track of time lol. Luxury cars are great but man are they a pain in the ass when it comes to maintenance. I'm happy to see that you still love your R8 but i mean who wouldn't? haha. On that note, I have arrived for my bi-annual check-in. I saw that you ended up going hybrid with the Lexus NX350H. With the gas milage you're getting on there, you don't even have to tell me you're happy with your purchase because I'M happy with your purchase hahaha. I, on the other hand, did not get either of the cars i mentioned to you last time i was in here. I can't say i made a smarter decision with the direction i went BUT i am happy nonetheless. I ended up getting a 23 Honda Civic SI. I've always wanted a manual car and i saw my opportunity and i went for it. There's no shame in my game lol. All in all though, I love my little civic which at the end of the day, i believe is what matters. Would hate to be stuck behind the wheel of a car i don't enjoy driving. That aside, i noticed while watching this and some other recent videos to catch up on what I've missed, your production quality has always been top notch. It's funny because I've noticed it before but never 'noticed' it, if you know what i mean. Even back when you first got the DJI drone, I knew the quality was good but never actually paid much attention to it. Just a little something that came to mind lol. I'm glad to see that you're doing well though. As always another great video, with great production quality. Hope everything continues to go well for you and your family. V10 has a few added steps to account for the emergency frunk release, yes that is apparently a thing for this tiny frunk.

If the battery is completely dead (like in my case), you'll be able to open the car with rotating the key ("emergency open"), but trunk also needs to be opened using "emergency open" procedure. Also, if your car is outside or in a public parking - make sure you have a portable charger (like the one visible on the floor at start of video) or another car with hotwire clamps or replacement battery ready, because you'll have trouble locking the door once you've opened it. I guess the idea when disconnecting the battery for long-term storage was that you lock the doors, then disconnect the battery, then close the trunk; later you go through "emergency open" procedures, but you DO have a working battery - to be able to lock the door after you unlocked it. WIthout the battery, it kind of locks, but not completely closed.

why did you choose AGM instead of the OEM BOSCH battery?

Haven’t had good experience with the OEM batteries. Each died within 2-3 years and out of warranty. The Energizer battery is a favourite among the R8 community and has a 5 year warranty from Costco.
