Harsh flawes and maybe help put a spin on the video - but non issues IMHO. For instance… 1. Ever replaced the shocks? I have to replace my bike fork fluid every 3 years and the cars suffer the same, we just never bother. New OEM shocks should help. Also tyre choice, top mounts and bushes all matter to ride quality. I found the Mk1 pleasant, soft seats (again get tired). 2. Quattro. We are not dirt rallying. And whilst not the best it makes a big difference. I hugely missed the x4 when jumping into regular Fwd, as they really suffer on pulling out of blind junctions or tight turns, or generally on country roads - I never once had the TT light up the traction light - you could be brutal and it behaved. Whilst it is said to understeer ….. on a track. Never found it a big issue on the road ; only really emphasised in the wet if you pushed too hard - definitely a car you get in tight and squirt out hard even in the wet (so those linger fast bends need restraint in the wet - but what car can you drive in the dry at 100 percent that will noticeably leg away from the TT again and again on a highway enjoyable burn?). So as a daily driver and fun thing, I found the car highly practical and place-able for those things. It’s magazine hype for people that will never race their daily car; this is a very capable road car. Talking of which. Never needed a hatch, as I’ll buy a washing machine once every ten years and pay delivery and council collection of old. Think if I owned sports gear needing transport I’d get an estate. The TT is fine for daily and is ok for GT. The sound of the factory exhaust on the mk1 VR6 is beautiful. And was utterly ruined on the mk2. Cherish it. Well worth considering the chains before 100k. I know it gets expensive if you add on fly wheel and clutch, but then it should last another long while.

I've just bought a 190 2wd same colour and interior as yours The steering is terrible doesn't center after corners recon I'll need to change the Rack but it looks pretty tidy for a 16 year old motor

Thanks for that. No car is perfect every single one is a compromise in one way or another. But I think the sheer value for money this car is a winner. Will you lose money on it? It was always thus.😊

Robert, the awd system on this is totally different from your rs4. It's haldex, and your rs4 has a torsen differential.

I got a 3.2 after driving my girlfriends 1.8T. The 1.8 has oil sludge problems, it's not a good engine. I considered getting a newer TT, but after some research found that the 2.0 engines required timing belt changes each 65K miles.. So far, cross my fingers, my 2004 is still running strong.. it has a few minor issues like a sagging headliner and pixels missing from the display, but overall it has been very very reliable and I'm not planning on replacing it any time soon.
@CibParty4 жыл бұрын
1.8T is pretty bomb proof as long as maintained regularly, think many sludge problems are due to VAG's stupid longlife oil claims that cars can run so long between oil changes (never trust a VAG claim about anything... mpg/co2 etc.). I struggled to find a low mileage model 1.8 most well over 100 -150k some even over 200k suggests to me that the engines are pretty reliable if maintained.
@FastandFun4 жыл бұрын
I had a 1.8T before the 3.2. Didn’t have any issues with it. My view is that as long as it’s had regular servicing then both engines are good for lots of miles. The problem is that the TT’s are so cheap now that people buy them that can’t (or won’t) service them properly and things start failing!
@CoinJarMusicVideos4 жыл бұрын
@@FastandFun I had the a4 1.8T, got a cracked oil pan from a rock-- the mechanic says it saved the engine because it was nearly completely caked up.. The car had 25K on it and was 3 years old... all oil changes documented by the dealership.. I only used Mobil 1 and within 5 years the engine died.. 87K on the odometer.

Love mine to bits, it looks so small in the carpark at work next to all the modern barges but the amount I can fit into it is incredible (full race bike in soft bag with assorted luggage etc etc.) The only wish I have is for volume controls on the steering wheel and keep fit windows, except there is nowhere for a windy handle on the door! As for the sound, well, naturally aspirated V6 with an excellent factory exhaust, well done Audi.

Very tempted to upgrade from my 14 plate ford KA with sub, 10K miles to a 04 plate 3.2 vr6 TT with 90K miles. It would likely only do 1000miles a year. Is this financial suicide and a shabby way to treat an old yet powerful car?
@FastandFun4 жыл бұрын
It would clearly cost much more than your Ka, but worth it for the sound of the VR6 engine alone. Remember, you only live once, so you might as well enjoy it 👍🏻

"I'm shure that it puts many Alfa V6 to shame" 🤣 typical VR6 owner's comment. I think first you have to listen a 3.0/3.2 V6 Alfa even in stock form, its all another music over 4000 rpms. And then it pulls to 7000 when the boring VR6 stopped at 6500. Take a ride in a GTV 3.0 (the 3.2 is too much for this TT) and then tell me wich you prefer men 😄. Alfa is all about diving and connection with the pilot, the opposite of this Audi.

I would like to express my thanks for your review. You certainly hit it on the nail with the numbers built. Too often are the mass produced vehicles that fall into disarray, making the aftermarket stock heavily molested in the hands of hacks and non-enthusiasts. Sorry for sounding like a purist but having owned and loved dozens of cars, there's an appreciation for what each vehicle has been born and bred to be. While the uninitiated focus immediately to make every car they own custom. I initially only sought after a 6 speed manual quattro but now consider the v6 with DSG to be a viable option to consider. Again, many thanks.

Many thanks for your kind words. The 3.2 V6 is sure a great car and I’m planning on my next video to put it against my 987 Porsche Boxster S which on paper at least is a very similar car 👍🏻

I’ve just got the same car, have to disagree with you about the driving experience as I think it’s actually got a lot of feedback in the steering compared to modern stuff. Also I don’t think the ride is that bad, although I’m 21 so probably feel differently about it😂

If my BAM engine lets go I will move back to the 3.2 after after having R32’s. But I wouldn’t want that gearbox due to longevity. I prefer manuals in older cars 👍👍
@FastandFun3 жыл бұрын
The DSG suits the nature of the VR6 unit very well and should be good if maintained properly. But I fully understand the need/want of a Manual - good luck in finding one though as they are quite rare 👍🏻

So all of those "too common to be" are irrelevant. Rather than saying there are too many for them to be beautiful or desirable, ask "do I find it desireable". Otherewise it seems as if you get a car because of what others will think about you rather than getting a car that YOU want. Just saying.
