Audi TT MK2 Service Light and Oil light reset with the Thinkdiag tool 2006 - 2014 model year. How to

How to reset the oil change and service light warning on a MK2 Audi TT using the Thinkdiag diagnostic tool. This will be the same on an Audi A3.

What you will need with the Thinkdiag tool is the extension cable, as on the VWG group vehicles this tool doesn't fit in the diagnostic port as the trim around the tool is too big. If you don't have the extension cable you can drop the lower dash trim down and remove the OBD plug from the trim. That's what i had to do here.

What is the difference between oil change and service? Mine are done together. What service is at 18k?

Oil change is just an oil and filter change, whereas a service would include having a full inspection plus pollen filter, possible brake fluid, air filter etc, depending on what’s due. If you check the service book it will tell you what’s due at what mileage. Most of the VW group cars have long life/flexible servicing which means they can go for longer without changing the oil so would basically miss the oil changes and just have full inspections every 16-19k/2 years depending on how the car is driven.

Hi buddy you don’t need the tool.Just pull out the right stork,release then pull it out again for 10 secs then it resets the service light 👍

Yeah that will only reset the oil service for 10k 365 days, not the inspection service long life/flexible servicing
