This is the third time to upload this video. Frist time I mistake the 1995 Stock photos to 1996 Stock. Second time I forget to fade-in the audio from start. Seems it is not good for me to upload videos about 1996 Stock...
I hope this is the last time to upload this video.

Best sounding tube. Alstom trains are a different kind . Same with the class 465, they have that cooling fan noise at a certain speed if you can hear it

There isn’t a “cooling fan”. It’s just the air rushing past the train.

@@bfapple there isn't a internal motor fan that spins with the motor to help cool it ?I've read people talking about it? And It sure sounds like it too. The jubilee line sounds like it at least. Even class 465s have that noise.

@@bb-3653 No. the traction motors are small enough that cooling effect is supplied by natural airflow. There wouldn’t be the space to fit forced cooling to the bogies.

These are the best ever Tube Trains to have run on the London Tube, their Soothing Motor Sounds make me Relax every time I hear them, they were the first ever Three Phase 415V AC powered trains ever to run on the London Underground, having being Designed in 1989 time, and Delivered by around 1996 time, due to the 1990 Negative Equity Recession delaying the project somewhat.

To clarify, the “interesting” sound comes from the three phase inverters and not the motors.

Great video.☺️ I love these trains, the Alstom 1996 Tube Stock are my most favourite Trains ever made especially because of the motor sound. This is one of the main reasons why the Jubilee Line is my most favourite Line on the underground.☺️ I wish they made more trains like these especially with the same motor sound like these. By the way, I just subscribed to ur KZbin channel.☺️

They’re way better then those horrible screeching sounds from the Bombardier Tube Trains and that terrifying sound from the 1992 stock trains (the sound when they exit the station).
@bfapple
@bfapple 2 жыл бұрын
To clarify - the sound is coming from the traction electronics and not the motors. The reason that only a limited number of trains have this sound, is because this method of electronic control was already obsolete by the late 90s.

@@bfappleBut also because the vf drive in the 96 stock is programmed like the vf drive in any modern train( eg 2009 stock, class 700 desiro) , except the vf drive doesn’t have as high frequencies as modern vf drives do, hence why this sound is produced when the train starts up

The 1995 and 96 stock are my 2 favourite Tube Stocks, everything about them is great: the design, the sound of the doors closing, the acceleration, the interior and the sound. I wish the modern trains were made by Alstom instead of Bloody Bombardier. Seriously, the sound of them is ear piercing (not as bad as the 1992 stock as it leaves the station though 😖) but the 1995 and 96 stock sound more like trains rather than a fart whistle or a low pitched washing machine.

The 1995 Tube Stock have the same motors as the 1996 stock but they have the IGBT Traction Inverters and the 1996 stock has the GTO Traction Inverters which is why they sound different when they pull off but as they speed up, they sound the same.

What time of day was this? Because the trains left the stations earlier than usual. Take Bermondsey, for example. It opened the doors, then closed them a few seconds later. Same for Canary Wharf...
