The voice of Hugh Fraser really does have a smooth, comforting quality, doesn't it? It's like the kind of voice that draws you into the story, making it feel more immersive. Have you ever listened to him narrate another Agatha Christie book? I wonder how his voice changes with different characters and moods in each story. What’s your favorite Agatha Christie mystery so far?

its amazing how much more interesting and decisively and energetically portrayed this poirot detective story is than 25 others of the same length and approximate trajectory displayed on my youtube page...i've listened to them all....only sherlock holmes comes close to be equally engaging, although sherlock is more prideful and cruelly vain............the story is told for its own sake with something of a hemingwayian hardboiled economy of words with no wasted asides, bon mots, or clever authorial vanity inclusions.....just the story qua story......so many other detective stories just wander around in the hinterlands of the actual crime exploring this that and the other of the weather and the countryside and whimsies of furniture, makeup, and clothing, and a hundred sagacious wasted observations on 'human nature' that add nothing and go nowhere but occupy an extra 40 minutes of spurious verbage

That's right. We all own mansions and estates in the countryside as well as our weekday homes in Knightsbridge, London, and we own several Rolls Royces and employ a full staff of servants and we always, always, ALWAYS get dressed for dinner. After dinner, the ladies retire to the drawing room to chat, whilst we gentlemen enjoy a glass or two of port and a cigar, and then when we are ready we rejoin the ladies for a rubber or two of bridge. We all hold senior roles in the government or civil service and will retire in our fifties with a top class, index-linked pension. Every one of us!
