This performance was my first exposure to Dimash 4 years ago. I was up all night and most of the next day seeking out everything I could find on him. I still feel deprived on the days I don't get time to listen to Dimash. His concerts provide the soundtrack while I work in my yard every year.

I'm pretty sure someone else mentioned that his dad is in the audience, it's the guy that was cut to a few times in the shadows. He did not know his dad was there, it was a surprise, Dimash was feeling homesick as it's been found out he'd never been away from his family like this previously and was missing them a lot. So, once he saw his dad in the audience he basically ran to him when it was appropriate and gave him a massive hug. Walks out with him and asks if he sang well, which is SO humbling. He's also said since that performance that he may not have done the last key change had he known his dad was in the audience as he said he was being 'cheeky' with it (or in your words, flexing). He's a very humble guy and loves his family, which makes listening to him so much better knowing he's that kind of guy. Keep enjoying your journey into all avenues of his vocals!

The story of the song is about a man shut in his house with his troubles with the wind swirling around outside. The camera cut to Dimash’s father in the audience. Dimash didn’t know his dad was there. Dimash was feeling very homesick in China without his family, so his dad flew from Kazakhstan to surprise him. He stayed in the shadows till the oerformance was over. There is footage of them hugging after and Dimash asking his dad if he sang well,

Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful performance with us. Dimash was feeling quite confident and cheeky here as this was his first performance after waking up as a Mega-Star.😅 All these Singers are successful with strong fan bases. There is not the same kind of cut-throat competition that is so common in the USA. Winning at The Singer is more about "status" and "bragging rights". Nobody's future is on the line. Great reaction. ❤️‍🔥👍 Yeah, we see Dimash use the mic in lots of clever ways. Great that you caught that. 🥰🥰Hugs from Canada🌹🦭🇨🇦.

Everyone - or nearly all - in the audience was already well acquainted with this song, as Opera 2 had already won over 100 awards in Russia, Europe and Asia for the composer/performer Vitas. Vitas has performed the song in the States on Letterman or other of the Late Night shows. Dimash knocks this performance out of the field!

Dimash is the singer/performer/actor extraordinaire. And even though one does not need a translation to enjoy his performances,.. still, I find it useful (in an informative way) to turn on Closed Captions. Sometimes, if there are no English subs... it is easy to type in Dimash SongName Eng Subs to get a posting with the translations. If you listen to it again, with subtitles, you will understand why he does what he does at precise moments of the performance

"Subtle" hahahahaha! The show was "The Singer," and he was 22. The lyrics don't matter in this Russian song. It's a novelty song. He's complaining about the strong wind, slamming his door shut behind him and rattling his windows. Then he becomes the howling wind. Those are competitors, but they're all professional singers with fan bases, so they weren't quite as demoralized as your standard talent show contestants. They were very welcoming to Dimash, respecting his talent. You stopped a bit too early unless that was a cropped version of the tape. His father was hiding in the audience so that he wouldn't make him nervous. Dimash noticed him when he was taking bows and his father stepped forward a bit.

This is a cover of a song by Russian singer, Vytas. After this performance, Vytas' manager forbade Dimash to sing this again. There were a lot of cover songs done on this show, by not only Dimash but the other singers as well. I hope that you react to the other songs Dimash performed on "The Singer 2017". Some videos have Eng. subtitles included on this show. He sang "The Show Must Go On", which was his first time singing in English. He was absolutely amazing. Adagio, All By Myself, and Unforgettable Day were heightened by the stellar performances of the orchestra and background singers as well. Dimash composed "Unforgettable Day when he was 19. I love your comments and reactions. Thank you so very much. There was one competitor who said that it was stressful to sing after Dimash.

Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. The song is very famous and popular in China. The audience already knew what to expect, but were very surprised when Dimash raised the pitch three times. Vitas but only once. The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional. BTW the audience is also the jury. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. I think what's happening today in the world worries him a lot. If you might want to see the whole video, especially the meeting with his father, privately, here is the link. Opera2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIG7haaKp5l1rac Please react to another song from The Singer competition. It’s called Daybreak. It’s a very important song for us Dears. I highly recommend you to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel first and then the one from his Bastau concert. It was the 8th performance of this competition. I don’t think there are copyright issues, because the videos on this channel are already edited and there are English subtitles. I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen The Singer version before. This song tells a very sad but true story. You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about. You really have to know why he sings the way he sings. So please react to The Singer version first🙏🙏🙏 In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances. In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017. Gloria Wu: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mqd2qsnKqMgc0 Bastau version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY Please continue to react to The Singer competition and if possible the stories behind. You can find them on the Gloria Wu channel. As far as I know, on this channel there are no copyright issues and there are also English subtitles. And I always recommend switching them on. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover. I can also highly recommend the videos from the Gloria Wu channel because they show a little more of the scenes behind the scenes and there are also subtitles from the competitors, some of which are really funny. Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Check out A TON of his performances! On this show alone, there's All By Myself, Hello, SOS, and many more. He sings in several different languages but speaks fluent Russian and his native Kazakh. Who is Dimash? From Kazakhstan, beginning his singing career at age 5 (he's 28 now), Dimash was accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country. His range extends from the top of the bass register to the highest notes of the coloratura soprano and whistle register. His first digital music album "ID" went platinum in only 37 seconds after release, and 3x platinum in only one hour, and 5x platinum in only one day on Chinese music platforms In December 2019, he made his US debut in New York at the Barclays Center. Dears (those he calls his fans) traveled from 68 different countries, 43 states & 2 US territories, and was sold out. Now writing his Doctoral thesis for a PhD in Musicology/ Composing, received all his degrees with honors while simultaneously filling arenas and maintaining his performing career, a first! He has a bachelors degree in vocals, a master's degree in composition and is about to complete his PhD in musicology this year. Dimash sings in 14 languages, plays 7+ musical instruments, is a composer, an amazing vocalist, patriot, philanthropist and a very warm and humble person.

The song is actually by Vitas, a Russian singer. The song is also in Russian. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hna2iYqHi9eapqM He is very well known in China, which means the audience knew the song. However, Dimash raised the pitch three times while Vitas only did it once. Vitas has a completely different voice than Dimash. Both are unique in their own way. Dimash was very playful during his performance. He later said that if he had known that his father was in the audience, who had surprised him after the performance, he would not have been so cheeky. I find that so attractive about the performance. The other People are the other contestans. And the one man which is shown in between is his Father. Can you imagine that after the performance he asked twice whether he had sung well? That's Dimash too.

Wonderful Reaction. Yes, those were Competitors back stage. They are all experienced/famous singers in Asia. Think Freddie Mercury competing against George Michael, David Bowie, Elton John... They know when they hear Special. What is lovely, is how supportive they all are of each other. Have you tried his "Sinful Passion" or "Love is like a Dream"? Not sure if you have Reacted to Forestella. If not try their Bohemian Rhapsody, Bad Romance or Shape of You. 👍 Someone else worth seeing is Hua Chenyu. Not in my Top 60 Hua Chenyu Performances, but "Nunchucks" is a good, fun intro to SOME of what he can do.

Lol technically 2017 is 6 years ago, but I believe the first few episodes of I Am a Singer was filmed in late 2016 and was aired in 2017, so your 7 years is correct. Dimash was in fact 22 at the time, so very young. Opera 2 is a Russian song and the song itself is a bit nonsensical. Written by a singer/songwriter Vitas. Vitas had one key change, but Dimash added 3. The audience are the judges, 500 judges. They vote for their top 3 artists. The green room people are the other artists who haven't performed yet and the room where they are all sitting together, they have performed already. I think Dimash was the 4th singer that day, (7 total).

Of course he is no dimosh but he's close. Older song, he does memory, Time to say Goodbye. And he wasn't the singer Chinese 2020. KS really good if you like Dimosh you will like this guy. You check the sky out and I'll subscribe.

You cant be that good and not know it. That would be tidiculous. Of course he is aware. But his mannerisms in this piece are for show....not braggadocio. Hes playing with the audience in a coy seductive kind of way. He doesnt know his father is in the audience. Later on at the end he finally sees his dad and it a sweet surprise and reunuion. Dimash spent 3 yrs in China doing various projects doing Singer. He missed his family very much. But the first thing he asked his father.." did I sing well?" When Dimash spreads his arms....he is embracing the audience with gratitude and love. Not posing as ...hey, look st me...aren't I great. Dimash is humble...but it would be ludicrous to say he foesnt know he can sing great. If he didnt know that...he wouldnt allow himself on stage. Confidence and arrogance are two different things.
