Thanks so much for doing this. I spent 3 years doing precisely this and probably lost most of my sanity in the process. As you conclude, with TBT on the top three DIRT clicks the FPT can get most of the way there in mist settings :)

Haha, sanity well spent in my opinion! The FPT is a pretty incredible feat of sound engineering. I hope that anyone who manages to find this video buys them both (and a Small Trees), because you deserve it. Happy to do it and thanks for watching!

@@offset_red That's interesting. '..sound engineering...' That's a great way to describe what I try to do. I will point as many people towards this vid as I can as I think you compare and contrast the two very well indeed. Thanks again :)

Man- I needed this demo like 2 months ago but it looks like my decision going The Small Trees > Fake Plastic Trees > tube amp may be the most practical and versatile set up. The second I turned on FPT I kinda chuckled at every previous time I’ve heard or played another solid state dirt pedal described as “amp-like” . Actually this has been SUPER useful as I still had curiosity if I had chosen right. The Small Trees is amazing. Beat out a 29 Pedals, Klone clean boost, Cali 76 and Kingsley Page as my always on boost/tone sweetener.

Haha, that’s funny considering I put this out two-ish months ago! Glad you found it useful. I agree, the ST/FPT combo is more board/live friendly, but TBT is hard to beat. You really can’t go wrong with any Audio Kitchen stuff. Thanks for watching!

Surprised to hear you say the Kingsley Page. I have 8 Kingsleys and the Page is still about my favourite and beats pretty much every other pedal I own - though maybe the Page TS now edges it. Anyway, if the AK is better, that must be a pretty sweet unit!

Good comparison! In a live setting, for most of your Big Trees settings, listeners would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. For recording I'd maybe favor the Big Trees esp. when the dirt is dialed counterclockwise... some cool tube harmonics happening there that are a *bit* different from the JFETs in the FPT. But both are great. (full disclosure: I own The Big Trees pedal but I've been eyeing the FPT pedal haha). Thanks for the comparision.

Thanks! I definitely agree with everything you said. After all was said and done, I preferred TBT slightly more, but only sonically. In terms of practicality a FPT/ST combo is hard to beat.

Hi there! Thank you, this is what I looking for to clarify better my thoughts on the Big Tress. Would love to hear some clean sounds and modulation on it's clean channel, cause actually everything is about the (great) dirt side.

Happy to help! That’s a great suggestion. I’ll think about doing that sometime in the future.

Tumi fake sounds like a really cool at all but big sounds like an amp does anybody know how much the big costs I'm not sure why the cost is shrouded in secrecy
@offset_red Жыл бұрын
Not a secret, the Big Trees is $1,050 (a quick google search shows it for sale at places like Russo Music). And yep, it sounds like an amp because it is an amp. Still, I felt the FPT was pretty darn close.
