Commenting on here again because I just can't stop thinking about his confession. Confessions normally make me feel extremely anxious, there's something about someone just going from 0 to 100 intensity and saying "I love you" out of nowhere that makes me terrified. But Sam... He was just so not overly intense and emotional, but still managed to sound so honest and loving. He does not put the listener in a position where they *need * to reciprocate his feelings, and I just love how he doesn't explicitly says that he loves Darling yet. I’ve listen to this a few times (probably one of my fav vids, the buildup was epicc), and through the last Sam video + this one I had an interesting thought. I think one of the biggest reasons why so many of us are so invested in the redacted universe, and more often than not aren’t just ‘causal’ listeners (apart from the amazingly thoughtout storylines!) is probably due to the intentional way the stories are presented. other than experiences critical to the storylines, there are no experience specific comforts or talks within any of the storylines (obv on a larger scale, this doesn’t mean stuff like nightmare comforts, etc more relating to personal experiences) and can only be described as generically specific. almost anyone can feel like their story can apply to the situation, at varying degrees. and I think this plays a big role in the way that so many of us get so attached to certain characters and feel safe within the universe. using Sam as an example, it can feel personal on a level where you feel like you are connecting and can relate to that person. the level of thought that is put into the reaction of the listener is also INSANE. it’s the small thing that TRULY make the difference. like in sams last video, him sharing his story abt turning really hit me and I was pretty shaken up, like others in the comments. the small detail of sam asking how darlin’ feels may seem like a convenient way to end the story, but it probably would’ve made more ‘sense’ within that exact context for them to be comforting Sam. the point is that it is part of a larger picture? and that there are levels to almost everything! like we all refer to the listener in different storylines by their nickname, but EVEN though there is a specific character being portrayed there, almost everyone can feel as if they relate to the character and are immersed in being that character and their feelings and emotions anyways ty for listening to my nonsensical Ted talk :)
