Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate on how to convert vinyl albums to digital. I tried using Audacity last night, I hooked my Audio-Technica turntable and gave up after a bunch of my clicking this clicking that. There is more to transferring than I originally thought, so I'll just do a few of my albums at a time.

Great stuff. Very useful for me getting to convert and listen to my vinyl from 30-40 years ago, actually my first LP I bought in 1976 !

Duder, super helpful. Thanks for going a step further on the clean up of the track. I was just here to see how to put it in a DAW, and I love Audacity has all that stuff!

Thank you for the W10/Audacity part of the transference. I would have liked to see more of the physical connections from the AT turntable to the PC using the supplied cables before going over the "ripping" stage. Also more info on the options in Audacity prior to ripping the album would have been nice, such as settings for dynamic range, equalized volume of tracks and so on. Thanks again.

Hi there, this has been an amazing helpful tutorial! However in the new version (as of feb 2023) of audacity the "silence finder" option has been removed and truncated into the "Label Sounds" option which is far more complicated. Do you know how to work with this new setting and or a work around for setting up labels for tracks? Thanks!

Need help! I just bought the AT-120LPXBT-USB, hooked the USB to my laptop (running Windows 11), configured both my laptop and Audacity to receive audio from the turntable and made sure the switch on the turntable is set to Line, and I get next to zero audio except for static. I've run through all the steps numerous times to no avail. Am I missing something? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried this using the RCA cables to a Tascam DR-05X or DR-40X to get a higher bit rate than the 16 bits that you get with the USB cable? I heard that if you plan to edit background noise, especially on older recordings with a lot of clicks and pops-you can get background noise in the place of clicks, pops, and crackle etc. I know this was an instructional video on using the USB, i’m just trying to explore alternative routes.

I haven't. The Audio-Technica has a built in pre-amp. It could be using the same circuitry as the USB A to D converter. I'm not really sure. If that is the case, I'm guessing a better audio capture device isn't going to help much. I think there are people who hack these to get to the audio before the pre-amp. That could help get better audio.

I've recently bought a Audio Technica-LP120X and I'm trying to record some albums off the turntable to audacity but the playback is this static/hum noise. I can barely hear the track because it's played at a really low volume while the static overplays over it. Do you know how to fix this problem? Thanks.
@Rickmakes
@Rickmakes 3 жыл бұрын
Do you have a laptop you can try? If so, I would try it and make sure it isn't plugged into the wall. If it works better, then I suspect you are getting electrical interference from your computer's power.

Got mine today and I noticed that wenn recording it seems to compress the record of it gets louder. So the loud parts of a song are loud at the beginning but then suddenly they are as lowed as the quiet parts. Is there a fix to this ?
@Rickmakes
@Rickmakes 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure about that. I'm assuming when you play a record through a receiver you don't have any audio issues, correct? If you have an input jack on your PC, you could try connecting the analog output of the record player into your PC. Then choose the analog input as your source.

Have you checked the permissions on the microphone? This video shows how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4PGdIydhNqGj7M The other fix they offer is removing anti-virus. That may not be the best choice. I use Windows Defender so if you suspect it is your anti-virus, you could disable it and try Defender.

Thanks for this. When I record using the USB cable on Audacity, the quality is perfect. When I do the same on Cubase, there's a persistent fuzz sound that completely overshadows the recording. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
