This video is unmonetized on KZbin due to a copyright claim (which was somewhat expected). It's more of a filler piece for another one I'm working on, anyway.

Nice review! Thank you for sharing your "Speaker adventure" with your audience.

I appreciate this review, including the part where you were weighting the options. A subwoofer will fix your concerns about sound quality at low volumes. With enough tinkering you can still get a nice even response without having to crank the volume.

did the hiss disappear when you lowered the volume on the speakers ? (I might have missed it). I'm considering these speakers, but I would not expect any hiss on premium priced speakers like this - thanks

Thanks for your full review of the speakers. You would not use a headphone like connector for the speakers as the power is I2R so the current going through the connector is going to be a few Amps and those connectors are only good for mA. Also as you plug in and out you have the potential of shorting two of the bands through the socket. The speaker connections look like they are set up so you could use 'banana' plugs straight in the back. I would always screw down tight! You have do drive enough current through to get the speaker moving so they will sound better with the volume up and resistance down. Final note - I have a pair of Edifier speakers. Same setup except I have a remote and the controls are on the side. I use the digital audio connector and I find it best with the volume right up on the input - as you did. I wonder if they use the same audio chip? I have the advantage of easy access to the speaker volumes so do not see it as so much of a problem...

Thanks for the info regarding the speaker-to-speaker connection, that makes sense! I did a setup many years ago with in-ceiling speakers and an amplifier from Monoprice in my family's basement. I remember doing the banana plug thing back then (I think I ordered the cable from Monoprice but had to get the plugs and/or a tool for them from a local RadioShack or similar when I was setting them up.) I didn't realize these A2+'s supported that, but it looks like Audioengine even sells a cable with preinstalled plugs separately (because of course they do, for the same reason they sell metal stands separately, lol.) Edifiers definitely came up a lot looking on Reddit for suggestions and reviews. I got scared off not too long after finding them by a highly-upvoted comment talking about some internal component they lack that most other "name" brands have... I can't seem to find that post again right now, though, and I don't remember what exactly it was, only that there was a claimed problem. That was about when I started thinking maybe I shouldn't eliminate options based on Reddit.

Should I use a dac/amp for the audioengine a2+ wireless speakers? Which port should I choose to connect to for the best sound? Sorry I don't understand English so I use google translate to talk to you.

So I can turn the volume knob on the speakers to max and control the volume via PC, right?

Yes, you can. In the video, I was experiencing a perceived loss of quality by doing that, but in practice, I've found myself basically doing it anyway. (I probably end up around 75% rather than full 100% when I turn them on, but I don't lean all the way over the top to check the exact number every time; I just roughly feel out "most of the way up.")

Following up: To be honest, I was aware this video's intro was dominated by the speaker searching tangent and that the tangent wasn't delivered as cohesively as it could have been, and I actually considered re-recording it. However, when outlining the points I wanted to include, I found that a "streamlined" intro would have been just as long anyway. I decide to keep the original both to save time and effort in production, and to keep the video more natural. Nevertheless, if you want to be bossy, you'll find a video editing program is a more effective place to give commands than in KZbin comments.
