They should be more lively than Dovedale / Linton according to Peter C. Unforunately they where only on display and not playing.
@tomwebb70919 ай бұрын
Thats good to hear. Ive not heard the Dovedale but then they are overpriced by £2500 imo. The Denton 85th and Linton i hated.... dynamically flat with a crappy tweeter. The Leaks appear far better engineered, perhaps even better than the Dovedales driver wise and have a price thats right. Where is the Peter Comeau interview might i ask? Id like to know more!

Looks like the typical bad show - speakers put in way too small rooms without any kind of room treatment or even dsp corrected to solve some of the problems - instead all that Cable Voodoo and overpriced Accessoires... Will not understand why all that self named High End Brands or Distributors dont spend any money into Room Acoustics to give the Visitors at least an okey-ish Presentation
@1000garyfrancis9 ай бұрын
Some small speakers sounded great and also aome medium-sized. The low power low volume gear sounds great also. At the end of the day, so long as the system is played at a level before the less than ideal room, accoustics come into play, you will have a general idea. Pearl accoustic and Rogers with Audionote, amongst others, proved this. Otherwise, it is still a great day out.

. Agreed. Exhibitors need to understand that they're hosts too. Where's the Class? There ought to be a small catering service with complementary delicacies & cocktail service from a smiling professional waiter. If your selling $25K Amps then you'd better get in the same league as your customer. And wear a jacket & tie! Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊

@@1000garyfrancis i personally dont visit any dealer, event or show without Acoustic Treatment anymore for serious listening. Doesnt makes sense. You hear the room and not the Electronics. The only exception is when there is a loudspeaker or cable demonstration at a dealer wirhout treatment, so that we can make fun of the ignorant people with my best hifi friend. Always funny how many stupid people out there believe all that stuff. And the salesman of this cable, isolators etc stuff are also hilarious too And after that we go home and then my and his own system will sound 10 times better than it already is (with Treatment, DSP Correction etc of course)
@mrpositronia9 ай бұрын
it takes too long to set all that stuff up. Also, nobody is under the impression these setups are optimal sounding. That kind of thing belongs in one's home. Also, these setups would never represent the setup you bought. Even if you had the exact same one in your home, it would still sound different. Your room dimensions would not be the same.

@@TriAmpMyFii disagree. Better engineered is true but better sounding? My old Wharfedale 507.2 are VASTLY superior sounding than the current Lintons. At the end of the day the sound that comes out of speakers is gravitated towards by an individuals ears and thats all that matters.

From experience I'd say that system synergy and set up are more important than spending as much as possible, which is where many can go wrong. Marketing and "hype" can play a major role in separating many from their hard earned cash.Maybe add in fancy packaging ,a pretentious name and a sparkling "jewellery" finish too.
@andreabincoletto86099 ай бұрын
So tired to read these kind of comments. Are you writing the same under supercar videos, Rolex clocks, top notch sports equipment, and so on? Sure you can spend very little on every sector and live well, especially if you are poor. But to get top performance, you need big money. You are talking about wasting money because you have very few of them, let's face it.
@oliverbeard79129 ай бұрын
@@andreabincoletto8609 Hi Andrea.I understand how this can come over as jealousy, and in some instances that may well be the case.However there are some inevitable limitations to things like cables,which are fairly easy to make well at what I'd call "realistic" prices. There is simply nothing that can be done beneficially from an engineering standpoint with respect to cable design that can justify a 5 figure sum. People will buy what they like and believe in.I have absolutely no gripes about that, but some hobbyists can be taken advantage of when it comes to deciphering what "better performance " actually is. Subjective preference is absolutely fine,but for some different may be perceived as better even if in reality it isn't. Not looking to rain on anyone's parade, simply pointing out that there are opportunists out there (i won't name them) utilising marketing etc as their primary goal and it's easy to believe it must be better just because a certain manufacturer says so.
@andreabincoletto86099 ай бұрын
@@oliverbeard7912 Hey Oliver, I was replying to the original poster, not you. 👍 Anyway, opportunists won't exist only in the HiFi market, actually they are everywhere money circulates. What's ridicolous is that ppl with little to no experience in HiEnd audio comment on what's legit or not in a sector they don't know. Do you really think that the original poster had the opportunity to listen to high profile stuff at home or in a known well treated environment? Nah, 99,99% not. Nevertheless, they "know" it's a waste of money. That's just poor man thinking, plain and simple. Have a good day.
