That's why Chris was a very special vocalist in rock music. He could sing heavy metal like the best (Tate, Dio, Halford etc), hard rock like the best (Plant, Coverdale, Gillan) and still had so much more to offer. The one and only:)

It's called Lorazepam and he was clearly under the influence of it's hypnotic/tranquilizing effects here and on his last night with us... He wouldn't have done that sober. It's the truth. He loved his life sober, and had WAY too much to live for to go out like that... That is the one thing I agree with Vicky about. He had a major slip-up, which happens in recovery (I'm a benzo/opiate addict as well, so believe me I know how hopeless that feels to have years under your belt that you lose all over one stupid night/day/decision)... It fucking sucks. Probably some of the heaviest feelings of guilt there are... And I only have 25 years here personally, and a decade worth of addiction experience. He had more than twice the life experience, and 1000x the talent that I have, yet he threw it all away because he was in zombie-xannyland... Fucking sucks. FUCK pills, man. Doesn't matter if it's Ativan (aka Lorazepam), Xanax (aka Alprazolam), or fuckin OC's (aka oxycodone). They're all poison. As is alcohol, but most people know that (ever heard of a hangover)? Hangovers happen because ethanol (the active ingredient or "drug" in alcohol) is literally metabolized into a poison, hence the sickness... This all goes out to Chris and Chester, almost moreso with him, because he WAS sober (I mean 3 unfinished beers, but still)... Too sad to talk openly about still for me. I'll start to cry, to this day. I think about them everyday, STILL...

I, like many others was an enormous fan of C.C. His voice has and still does get me through the good and bad times in my life. When, I first saw the full performance of this I knew right away something was off with him. He did look under the influence of something and I immediately thought, oh no, he fell off the wagon... Even the lead up performances to his death, he seemed up and down. I'm not one of the conspiracy theorists but any educated fan of his would be able to sense something was going on behind the scenes for a period of time. The saddest part is it still could have probably been prevented but now we'll never know. So I choose to live remembering him as I knew, saw, heard and felt his voice and still do everyday. 2 nights after he died, I had a very vivid dream of him and walked up to him, hugged him, said thank you and wish he was still here. He responded, "no man, thank you!"...and he faded away...as humans we all live within the variables. The good, the bad and in between but we all have a soul and in my mind, Chris had one of the brightest! ..."and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand" -An Old Irish Blessing
