These guys will single handedly be the salvation of "alt rock".. it's been re"genre"fied and miss labeled, electronic and hip hop have taken the MainStage and it will be bands like this.. with the soul of soul, heartbeat of electro, and simple luscious melody using bass, drums, guitars and his very pur young and hopeful tone. These guys are a true breath of fresh air no matter what their sound is a reflection of.. or whatever influences their sound is a refraction of.
@Ready2FreakingPlow9 жыл бұрын
Alt-Rock is now pretty similar to pop, I'll give you that. But Joywave is basically an 80's rock act playing today. I don't know if I would call that "genre re-defining." But they're good. Really good. So who cares?

+jeffrey kuziak These guys, Young the Giant, and Big Data are some of the best bands out there right now!
@schuniza5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the above dude was calling 80s rock. Love that genre but this isn't it. It's a conglomeration of influences from different genres and decades. To label it simply "80s rock" is not only incorrect, it downplays the actual complexity and purity of this sound.

While I obviously love music (that's why I'm here,) there are very few songs to which I'd apply the phrase "mind-opening." "Traveling at the Speed of Light" is definitely one of them. Every time I listen to it, my mental state is elevated and I'm taken on a chill spiritual journey.
@bridareis78837 жыл бұрын
Joywave can do that to you. Silversun Pickups is another band like that for me, you should try and listen one or two! Growing Old is Getting Old is golden.

Love this style of music video, live, in studio, with no extra "concept" crap going on to distract from the musicians. Great song again by this band, I've just added four of their songs in a row to my playlist. I have a feeling I'm going to be listening to this band for a while now.

Saw them perform on my campus (U Rochester) and they were great! They are part of the Tim Avery benefit show (Roc4Tim.com) on December 3rd. If you want to see 10 hours of Joywave's friends, please come. All proceeds go to Avery's cancer treatment.

Shirts are meant to be buttoned, sly. Lets play a game where you try to be the hipster that can say something nice without saying something mean first. I've got it set to difficult mode, so don't cry if it takes a while to finish the first few levels.
