2024 here. From the future 😅. Anyone still here? Still absolutely love doomtree. Still a great set. Still a fan!

Hey me too! Doomtree was my favorite a decade ago. Bittersweet feeling considering how they ended.

This is what hip hop is....inspiring and motivating...Doomtree redefined the way I looked on how to be an artist.....and helped me realize that you can achieve anything....

If you have not seen Doomtree/Shredders/Dessa etc live... DO IT! As soon as possible! See them wreck a stage with your own eyes! Meet them! They are the coolest people ever. Give them your money! You will not regret it!

Just saw them all at Familia HQ in NE Minneapolis. I'm not even much of a fan of hip hop but the performances blew me away! They seem to address everything I dislike about the mainstream acts in the genre by going in a completely different direction.

This live performance sounds so much better than the album. Will definitely be purchasing this session. It's odd that they sound a million times better live...strange.

I've had pretty lukewarm feelings about the album compared to the others. But after repeated listening I think it really HAS to be listened to on headphones. It's a lot less dense than the earlier records, giving a lot more room for the MCs. But the music is gorgeous, grandoise and beautiful. There's a great depth to the beats and sequencing that's pretty rare in hip-hop. The bummer is that I don't think it really plays well in other situations.

I completly agree with you Jessica, not that the official audio isnt great they just perform so great together. You should also check out Astronautalis if you havnt heard of him yet. Hes sorta similar when it comes to the Lyrical Alternative Hip Hop and his live performances are amazing. Just dont start out with his newest album, not that it isnt good, it just isnt whats going to get you hooked

again, I feel like there were a couple too many mistakes in this. the exception being their performance of Gray Duck which was a beauty to watch.

You are entitled to your opinion. I enjoy the sound of this much better than the album in every possible way. I also enjoy basically all of their live performances better than albums. They are so talented which imho comes through live much better. Either way they are wonderful.

More live hip hop acts need to be set up like this. I mean with rappers doing their thing of course, but also the DJ's/Producers actively contributing to the set and not just pressing play on the mixer or some shit. The instrumental aspect of a rap song is just as integral and ubiquitous as the lyrics. I love the idea of having one of them handle the turntables while the other does the finger drumming. It's so enticing to watch Lazerbeak jamming out on an MPC like that instead of just letting the pre-recorded track play while the rest of the crew just spit bars over it. It takes real talent and precision to work an MPC in a live setting like that, let alone with such intensity and gumption. I've been to hip hop shows where the DJ will just hit the play button on the instrumental and let the pre-recorded track play, NOT EVEN DOING HIS OWN SCRATCHING. That's so fuckin lazy and uninspired, not even doing your own scratching live. Lazerbeak and Paper Tiger contribute just as much to the live sets as Sims, P.O.S., Dessa, Mike Mitclan and Cecil Otter do.

i've always hated Mike. Pants around his ankles, wearing fake ass brass knucks.... Ugh. He's everything that Doomtree isn't. I don't know why they keep him on but he's aight. I don't hate him enough to have the get rid of him. He's the misfit of the bunch for sure.
