Auf Wiedersehen Pet was the first game that I borrowed from another kid at school. Actually it was how I met him, introduced by a friend because he had Speccy games to swap or borrow. . . Somehow, even after this diabolical shock of a lend, he turned out to become my best mate and best man for my wedding, though we still talk about this game in jest to this day! 🤓👍

That's cool. As a kid I remember going to a meet up where people would exchange their games for copying. One kid was trying to get something for AWP (Speccy version) but no one was interested. It may have been the only game he had to offer as I never saw him with another. I felt a little sorry for him, so I let him copy a couple of mine for nothing. Unlike you though, I never saw him there again.

Their boss in Series 1 was Herr Grunwald, played by the late Scottish actor Michael Sheard. The lads called the German workers "Erics", so that the Germans who understood any English would think they were taking about somebody called Eric. At least that's the explanation Neville gives to Colin (a mysterious character played by Ray Winstone) in the episode "The Fugitive".

It's a collection of minigames also, including joystick masturbation (100m), the actually okay diving game, the interminable clay pigeon shoot, the long jump, and that's about it really. @@jmp01a24 but there's a at least 4 or 5 porn games all credited to Robert Carr? All coded in basic, all containing some very unique ways of doing things - at least one of which is replicated in Auf Wiedersen, Pet hence the link.
@jmp01a24 Жыл бұрын
@@medes5597 I doubt Robert Carr made any porn games, incl. stroker with the credits to the company, that his wife started. As said Magic Carpet started out on PET in the late 70s. Most of their C64 games (all) were ported from PET to C64, written in basic, with the odd machine code routine. I lean towards that someone made Stroker about 2-3 years later and "borrowed" the hallmark game company as publisher, to get a certain respect. Basic programs listings is easy to duplicate and Magic Carpet always had a lot of REM statements with credits on the top. As for Tynesoft, a UK based company, there is no relation between the two developers but having similar name. Robert/Bob Carr was a US resident. Also you got the UK Bob Carr credited for Oric, ZX and BBC versions of the mentioned game. Americans did not develop for the Spectrum, nor any other EU systems. They were Atari/TRS80/PET/Commmodore64/Apple II/Texas Instruments developers.
